For all the old hands, (:) and new ones), the IQD became a searchable currency in the Bloomberg currency section on their home page. Those who've been around remember the days when some wondered if it would ever show up anywhere like that. Started about 4 days ago, but I waited to post to make sure it would still be available. It also feels good that the fact that a U.S. Treasury delegation visited CBI just days before. I was in Iraq LONG ago, when Bremer was still there, and there were 24 U.S. Treasury people working at the CBI then. The only way I know is that there was a plot to kidnap them, which went out on the warning wires in the Green Zone. So if they've been there that long, an ordinary delegation visit wouldn't be news, these must have been higher ups, no lightweights. Hope springs eternal. $

Ivanka Trump’s Jewelry Company in Trouble for Unpaid Taxes Reports have emerged that Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry has unpaid taxes. Ivanka Trump‘s clothing and accessories label has made headlines in recent weeks as retailers have either dropped or distanced themselves from her wares. The latest controversy surrounding Ivanka’s businesses relates to her fine-jewelry company. Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry owes $5,165.06 in unpaid taxes, according to a warrant filed by the New York State Department of State on Jan. 27. The company, which is based in New York City and has fine-jewelry boutiques around the world, is officially listed as Madison Avenue Diamonds LLC on the document. Despite stepping down from her role with her fashion brand last month, the 35-year-old daughter of President Trump is still listed in business filings as the chief executive officer of her jewelry companies in Florida and New York, according to ProPublica. The Trump organization told ProPublica that Ivanka formally resigned from “positions of management and authority” on Jan. 18, but the changes haven’t yet been filed. “We are taking steps to update records in the various states and other jurisdictions consistent with governing law,” the company said in a statement. Coincidentally, Trump posted a photo on Twitter of her with daughter Arabella at the U.S. Supreme Court Building. Arabella & me at the Supreme Court today. I'm grateful for the opportunity to teach her about the judicial system in our country firsthand. pic.twitter.com/1YXHyZ9ADZ — Ivanka Trump (@IvankaTrump) February 22, 2017 This news comes amid the intense media scrutiny that has surrounded the fine-jewelry company as of late. Just weeks ago, high-end retailer Neiman Marcus announced it was dropping Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry owing to poor sales performance. At the time of the announcement, the company released the following statement to the Cut: “Neiman Marcus has a very small Ivanka Trump precious jewelry business which is comprised 100 percent of consigned merchandise (merchandise owned by the vendor). Based on productivity we continuously assess whether our brands are carried in stores, on our website, or both.” Trump’s namesake jewelry line was also in the news when she wore a $10,800, 18-karat yellow gold diamond bangle from the label during her family’s first postelection interview, in New York City. After the interview, one of the company’s employees sent an email to journalists offering style details on the expensive bangle. That led to a firestorm on social media, with many users commenting that Ivanka’s hawking her products on national television was a conflict of interest. At the time of the incident, the brand’s president, Abigail Klem, said in a statement that a well-intentioned employee, who was still making adjustments postelection, was to blame for the release. “We are proactively discussing new policies and procedures with all of our partners going forward,” said Klem. The backlash from the event, along with a number of other high-profile incidents in which Ivanka was attacked for sporting her own products, may have led to her stating that she would relinquish her power in her companies. Like Father Like Daughter....what is so weird about it?...that you folks have to bust you rear end working like an overworked horse while your rich friends are getting richer and richer by the day....without paying taxes...just like Donaldof did.....

Muhammad Ali’s son detained under Trump immigration ban Muhammad Ali’s son was detained at Fort Lauderdale International Airport earlier this month — in the wake of President Donald Trump’s executive order on immigration, it was revealed Friday. Muhammad Ali Jr. was traveling from Jamaica on Feb 7 with his mother Khalilah Ali when immigration officers detained him in a small room and questioned him for 30 minutes, the Miami New Times reported. Ali Jr., who has no criminal record and carries a US passport, was repeatedly asked about his religion, his rep told the New Times. “This is an outrage,” Chris Mancini, a former federal prosecutor and friend of the family, told the paper. “I don’t know what is going on with Mr. Trump’s claim that his ban is not religion-based. We do not discriminate in this country based on religion.” Khalilah Ali showed immigration officers pictures of herself with her former husband — legendary boxer Muhammad Ali — and they chose not to detain her. Muhammad Ali Jr. did not have a picture of his father at the time. President Trump signed the travel ban on Jan. 27. A federal judge in Seattle blocked the order a few days before Ali’s flight and the directive is currently ensconced in a legal battle. Customs and Border Protection did not comment about Ali’s encounter.

A Muslim Woman Tried to Work in Trump’s White House, Lasts Only 8 Days Rumana Ahmed is a Muslim. She wears a hijab. And she has been working at the White House since 2011. Under President Obama, she was promoted to work at the National Security Council from the Office of Public Engagement. Since then, she has served as an adviser to President Obama, particularly in how he addressed and considered American Muslims. When Donald Trump won, most people in her shoes would have walked away instantly and found a new job. After all, Trump had traversed the country for two years spouting racist, xenophobic, sexist drivel, with a particular focus on anti-Muslim rhetoric. But that's not what Rumana Ahmed did. She decided to stay on despite her disagreements, because protecting what America stands for is even more important when what it stands for is threatened. Then, eight days after the inauguration, she had to quit. Ahmed wrote an eye-opening piece about her experience for The Atlantic, which shows just how quickly the White House's culture changed on January 23, 2017. The weeks leading up to the inauguration prepared me and my colleagues for what we thought would come, but not for what actually came. On Monday, January 23, I walked into the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, with the new staffers there. Rather than the excitement I encountered when I first came to the White House under Obama, the new staff looked at me with a cold surprise. The diverse White House I had worked in became a monochromatic and male bastion. But it wasn't just the whiteness that was surprising. It was the dysfunction. It was as if the entire national-security apparatus had been set on fire. Decision-making authority was now centralized to a few in the West Wing. Frustration and mistrust developed as some staff felt out of the loop on issues within their purview. There was no structure or clear guidance. Hallways were eerily quiet as key positions and offices responsible for national security or engagement with Americans were left unfilled. But perhaps the most painful and infuriating part of Ahmed's account is when she finally—after eight days! That's how fucked up this administration is!—decided to quit after Donald Trump's Oh, are those Muslim countries? I didn't even realize! Muslim ban was signed. The evening before I left, bidding farewell to some of my colleagues, many of whom have also since left, I notified Trump’s senior NSC communications adviser, Michael Anton, of my departure, since we shared an office. His initial surprise, asking whether I was leaving government entirely, was followed by silence—almost in caution, not asking why. I told him anyway. I told him I had to leave because it was an insult walking into this country’s most historic building every day under an administration that is working against and vilifying everything I stand for as an American and as a Muslim. I told him that the administration was attacking the basic tenets of democracy. I told him that I hoped that they and those in Congress were prepared to take responsibility for all the consequences that would attend their decisions. He looked at me and said nothing. It was only later that I learned he authored an essay under a pseudonym, extolling the virtues of authoritarianism and attacking diversity as a “weakness,” and Islam as “incompatible with the modern West.” You should read her entire piece, as it is a reminder in these dark times of what patriotism actually looks like. Because, as we continue to learn, especially in Trump's America, it's not minorities in America who are the threat. I have said it many times....Donaldof Trumpler is a racist bigot....and here is the proof...what more you need folks!!!

GQ Trump attacks FBI on leakers of Russia reports: 'FIND NOW' WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump criticized the FBI on Friday for failing to stop leaks of national security information to the media and directed the agency to find those who pass on classified information. Trump's comments come amid media reports saying the FBI refused a White House request to knock down news stories saying members of Trump's team were in frequent contact with Russian intelligence agents during the presidential campaign. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the nation's top law enforcement agency, did not answer a request for comment on Trump's remarks on Twitter. "The FBI is totally unable to stop the national security 'leakers' that have permeated our government for a long time. They can't even find the leakers within the FBI itself. Classified information is being given to media that could have a devastating effect on U.S. FIND NOW," Trump wrote. News reports by CNN and The Associated Press said White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus asked Andrew McCabe, the FBI deputy director, to deny a Feb. 14 New York Times report that said Trump's presidential campaign advisers had been in frequent contact with Russian intelligence officers. The request came after McCabe told him privately the report was wrong. Ahh...now Donaldof want the FBI to stop those who leaks the real stories because they are already tired of Donaldof.......I guess Donaldof don't want the public to know what he was doing with his Russian Master...Grand Putin.....

It appears they will drop three zero's off the paper currency, going from 1200 to 1.2 dinar to the dollar. The old rate was exaggerated and was harmful for Iraq exports. So to avoid this problem they will adjust the rate to accommodate export/import value. Smart. I wonder how it will work with money in the banks. All bank accounts are digital currency I would think. So there will be no dropping zero's off these accounts. Unless I am missing something this seems to be the case.

By Wassim Bassem for Al Monitor. Any opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the views of Iraq Business News.* Iraq is working to regulate the activities of private security companies and rein in the chaotic circulation and use of weapons. On Feb. 21, a group of armed tribesmen shot at*an Iraqi comedian’s house in Baghdad after he criticized*some tribal values in his TV show, “Walayat al-Battikh.” Another example of the security*chaos is the*firing of Katyusha rockets into Baghdad’s Green Zone on Feb. 12, following bloody demonstrations in the capital. Also, the parliament’s Security and Defense Committee said Jan. 27 that some security companies operating in Iraq were out of control. To address the security chaos and impose the rule of law, the parliament passed a law*Jan. 26*to regulate*private security companies. Two days later, the parliament*also passed a law*on weapon ownership. “Many foreign companies operating*in Iraq are either outside the law or regulated by outdated laws that are not suitable for the current situation,” the parliamentary Security and Defense*Committee*reported. Committee member Ibtisam al-Hilali told Al-Monitor, “Security firms across the country are not subject to state laws or regulations in many of their operations, meaning they are beyond the control of the official security services.” She said that the new bill would impose strict conditions on security companies, forcing them to comply with Interior Ministry regulations and systems. “Previously, their work, along with gun licensing and weapons store regulations, was the portfolio of regional governors, but the new law centralizes all these powers in the hands of the interior minister,” Hilali*said. “The large number of security companies in the country require*a new law*that*covers the companies guarding the US Embassy in Baghdad and other embassies.” Source: Iraq-BusinessNews.com. According to a report from*Amnesty International, Iraqi government forces, paramilitary militias and the armed group Islamic State (IS) committed war crimes, other violations of international humanitarian law and gross human rights abuses in the internal armed conflict. IS fighters carried out execution-style killings targeting opponents and civilians fleeing IS-held territory, raped and otherwise tortured captives, used civilians as human shields and used child soldiers. Militias extrajudicially executed, forcibly disappeared and tortured civilians fleeing conflict, and destroyed homes and other civilian property. Thousands remained detained without trial on suspicion of links to IS. Torture in detention remained rife. Courts sentenced terrorism suspects to death, frequently after unfair trials. Executions continued at a high rate. The full report can be viewed here. (Source: Amnesty International) Source: Iraq-BusinessNews.com. Post your commentary below.

U.S. and coalition military forces continued to attack the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria on Wednesday, Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve officials reported yesterday. Officials reported details of yesterday’s strikes, noting that assessments of results are based on initial reports. Strikes in Syria Coalition military forces conducted 24 strikes consisting of 32 engagements against ISIS targets in Syria: Near Abu Kamal, three strikes engaged an ISIS tactical unit and destroyed four oil refinement stills and a vehicle. Near Bab, four strikes engaged three ISIS tactical units and destroyed a vehicle-borne bomb. Near Shadaddi, three strikes engaged two ISIS tactical units and destroyed four fighting positions and an ISIS headquarters. Near Raqqa, seven strikes engaged three ISIS tactical units and an ISIS staging area and destroyed three pump jacks, a command-and-control node, a fighting position and a tactical vehicle. Near Tanf, a strike engaged an ISIS tactical unit and destroyed two tactical vehicles. Near Dayr Az Zawr, three strikes destroyed seven oil separation tanks, and oil wellhead, an oil tanker truck and an oil inlet manifold. Near Palmyra, two strikes engaged two ISIS tactical units and destroyed four tactical vehicles. Near Tamakh, a strike engaged an ISIS tactical unit and destroyed a tactical vehicle. Strikes in Iraq Coalition military forces conducted 14 strikes consisting of 62 engagements against ISIS targets in Iraq, coordinated with and in support of Iraq’s government: Near Beiji, three strikes engaged three ISIS tactical units; destroyed a tactical vehicle and a heavy machine gun; and suppressed a mortar team. Near Mosul, five strikes engaged four ISIS tactical units; destroyed three mortar systems, two ISIS-held buildings, two vehicle-bomb factories, a supply cache, a fighting position, a front-end loader, an excavator, a dump truck, a generator trailer, a weapons cache and a vehicle; damaged 15 supply routes and three tunnels; and suppressed 17 mortar teams and an artillery team. Near Qayyarah, a strike destroyed a weapons cache. Near Rawah, a strike engaged an ISIS tactical unit and destroyed three ISIS-held building and a vehicle. Near Tal Afar, four strikes engaged an ISIS tactical unit and an ISIS staging area and destroyed two weapons caches, a vehicle-borne bomb, a front-end loader, an improvised-bomb factory and an ISIS-held building. Part of Operation Inherent Resolve These strikes were conducted as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, the operation to destroy ISIS in Iraq and Syria. The destruction of ISIS targets in Iraq and Syria also further limits the group’s ability to project terror and conduct external operations throughout the region and the rest of the world, task force officials said. The list above contains all strikes conducted by fighter, attack, bomber, rotary-wing or remotely piloted aircraft; rocket-propelled artillery; and some ground-based tactical artillery when fired on planned targets, officials noted. Ground-based artillery fired in counterfire or in fire support to maneuver roles is not classified as a strike, they added. A strike, as defined by the coalition, refers to one or more kinetic engagements that occur in roughly the same geographic location to produce a single or cumulative effect. For example, task force officials explained, a single aircraft delivering a single weapon against a lone ISIS vehicle is one strike, but so is multiple aircraft delivering dozens of weapons against a group of ISIS-held buildings and weapon systems in a compound, having the cumulative effect of making that facility harder or impossible to use. Strike assessments are based on initial reports and may be refined, officials said. The task force does not report the number or type of aircraft employed in a strike, the number of munitions dropped in each strike, or the number of individual munition impact points against a target. Donaldof is merely trying to imitate his Master Grand Putin... Bill Gates supposedly has long way to go to catch the real richest man in the world Published: Feb 23, 2017 4:18 p.m. ET International Business Times triggered the latest round of speculation when it resurfaced various guesses as to the degree of Putin’s riches. One source said it’s only about $40 billion, while another put it up near $70 billion. Then there’s Bill Browder, a former fund manager in Russia. “I believe that $200 billion,” he once told CNN. “After 14 years in power of Russia, and the amount of money that the country has made, and the amount of money that hasn’t been spent on schools and roads and hospitals and so on, all that money is in property, bank, Swiss bank accounts, shares, hedge funds, managed for Putin and his cronies.”

Quite how close they were is shown in this picture - signed by Hillary Clinton SHARE PICTURE +9 +9 Taped: Johnny Chung recorded this testimony in a tape now obtained by DailyMail.com. He is believed to still be alive in China +9 Tentacles spread: The Chinagate scandal also saw Ng Lap Seng, a Macau billionaire tied to the Chinese government, accused of pouring $1 million into Clinton's 1996 reelection bid. Wead provided excerpts from the film to Dailymail.com. The man with whom Chung made the tape, Bob Abernethy, a friend from his church, said it was right that it was shown. In the never-before-released footage, Chung described how he feared for his life after he publicly admitted to funneling money from Chinese officials to President Bill Clinton's 1996 reelection campaign. He also claimed Democrats pressured him to stay silent about his dealings with the Clintons and said the FBI tried to enlist him in a sting against a top Chinese general at a Los Angeles airport. The video comes amid renewed interest in foreign influence in Washington, as some members of President Donald Trump's team have been scrutinized for their associations with Russian officials. The video grew out of a controversy in the mid-1990s when evidence surfaced that Chinese officials were pouring hundreds of thousands into then president Bill Clinton's reelection campaign through American straw donors. Chung, one of the main players in the 'Chinagate' scandal, was accused of giving over $300,000 to the Democratic National Committee on behalf of the head of China's military intelligence agency during Clinton's reelection bid. Chung cooperated with the Department of Justice during the investigation, and was sentenced to five years of probation for campaign finance violations, bank fraud and tax evasion in 1998. According to Wead's book Game of Thorns, Chung was persuaded to film the 'insurance' video by a former government official who visited him while he was in hiding and told him that his 'odds of survival actually increased by going public.' Chung 'received a friendly visit from a retired government official, friendly with the FBI, who perhaps felt guilty about the treatment Chung had been given after agreeing to come forward and tell the truth,' reported Wead. 'And so, with assistance from the former government official, Johnny Chung produced an elaborate videotaped testimony that was secreted to friends and family to be forwarded to the media in the case of his death.' Chung described on the tape how Democrats on the House Committee on Government Reform tried to dissuade him from testifying publicly before the committee by sending his attorney a letter telling him he could plead the Fifth Amendment. Chung said his attorney thought the letter was 'ludicrous' and a veiled threat from Washington Democrats that they wanted Chung to stay quiet. 'My attorney is a fine and good attorney in the West Coast,' said Chung. 'Besides, every good American attorney, they know how to take the fifth… sent a package to my attorney for one purpose.' After Chung agreed to cooperate with prosecutors on the Chinagate investigation, he feared his knowledge of the Clinton campaign finance scandal and the Chinese influence operation could make him a target for assassination. +9 Testimony: Johnny Chung, who testified to the House Government Reform Committee, revealed how Democrats on the committee tried to dissuade him from testifying publicly by sending his attorney a letter telling him he could plead the Fifth Amendment He said he feared his knowledge of the Clinton campaign finance scandal and the Chinese influence operation could make him a target for assassination. The FBI in Los Angeles began providing around-the-clock protection for him. But just a few days before Chung was scheduled to testify before a grand jury, the FBI headquarters in Washington called off the protection detail and told Chung he would have to make the trip alone. In the secret videotaped statement, Chung claimed the Department of Justice dismissed his safety concerns – with one U.S. attorney telling him to 'call 911' if he felt threatened. 'I called the FBI office and offered to the US assistant attorney again on the phone,' said Chung. 'And he said 'Mr. Chung your case is over. As a normal American citizen what do you do if you feel your life is in danger? You just call 911.' The businessman ended up testifying, telling the House committee that he believed the Clintons 'used me as much as I used them.' During the mid-1990s, Chung met regularly in Washington with key Clinton officials and other Democrats – but none seemed suspicious about how the relatively unknown small-time businessman was able to cut them such large donation checks. In total he visited the White House 57 times in a two-year span – eight of these meetings were 'off the books.' Most of the meetings were with Hillary Clinton or her staff. During one of these trips, Chung personally handed a $50,000 check to Hillary Clinton's chief of staff Maggie Williams. Chung even helped arrange for Bill Clinton to meet with the source of the money – a top Chinese military official – at a Los Angeles fundraiser. After Chung's activities caught the attention of federal authorities, Democrats quickly distanced themselves from the onetime fundraiser. During Chung's case, DNC officials claimed he misled them and urged the judge to give him a harsh sentence. But the judge declined, and even noted in the sentencing statement that it was 'strange' nobody from the DNC was prosecuted for accepting the illegal funds. 'It's very strange that the giver pleads guilty and the givee gets off free,' said U.S. District Judge Manuel L. Real. Judge Real also said the leaders of the DNC were 'two of the dumbest politicians I've ever seen' if they were not aware of the campaign funding scheme. He blasted U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno for failing to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Democratic involvement in the scandal. In the videotaped declaration, Chung said the DNC 'portrayed themselves as the victims, victimized by Johnny Chung.'airport. Chung claimed that the FBI also wanted to enlist him in a plot to arrest Chinese General Ji Shengde at the Los Angeles Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4251046/Illegal-Clinton-fundraiser-tape-fearing-life.html#ixzz4ZYdQhVuy Follow us: @MailOnline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook
