An official source in the Arab League in Cairo said that the Palestinian and Iraqi files and the situation in Mauritania will be on top of agenda of the ordinary meeting of the Arab foreign ministers on September 8 and 9th in Cairo.

The source explained that the Arab ministers will discuss the situation in the Palestinian territories following the Israeli withdrawal form Gaza. They will also study the situation in Iraq in light of the new draft constitution which states that this country is part of the Islamic world and that the "Iraqi Arab people (only the Arabs) are part of the Arab world," a matter which threatens the Arab identity of this country which is considered one of the first founders of the Arab League.

The Arab League secretary general Amr Moussa warned against the consequences of this matter. He asked for an urgent explanation from the Iraqi government and the Iraqi officials justified that by the need of taking into account the pluralism of the Iraqi people in what they called "new Iraq" following the collapse of the regime of Saddam Hussein.
