Seriously?

Have any Warka customers received the CRED divident and free shares or the BOB free shares? Also, are your shares held in Proxy or your own name? Just want to see how hit and miss this is or if there's a pattern.

I received the MEIB shares a few weeks ago, I only know because I asked Warka for a copy of my portfolio and they were included. I have received no other eMail informing me of the shares. When I received my portfolio, half was missing. I replied asking about the missing shares and got no response......again. :headbang:

Sorry to hear about your problems. Customer Service has always been slow with Warka, the only good thing I can say is that as far as I know nobody has had a problem that was not resolved to their satisfaction, it is just very slow in coming. Also - as far as I know nobody has ever lost a single penny through any kind accounting problem. Still, I know it can be frustrating, and takes a lot of patience, I am not making excuses for Warka. I believe their is another broker now that others are using that they are very satisfied with. Perhaps some healthy competition will lead to better service at Warka in the future.

I agree that Warka have always been slow to reply, but it seems the ISX department is getting worse rather than better. Half of my portfolio going missing is not a good start but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and a chance to rectify the problem. Ignoring my eMails when I question my missing shares is not acceptable. If it was a few shares I might let it slide, but the value of the shares in question makes up near 3 quarters of my invested cash. I'm sure they'll sort the issue eventually and I don't doubt their honesty. I just have a major problem with the complete lack of replies to important eMails.

At this stage of the game and after this incident, I'm no longer comfortable having my shares held in someones elses name. Especially if they can be lost this easily.

If Warka are too busy now, you have to ask yourself, what will it be like when the ISX is really busy? If they can lose track of my holdings now, what about when they're executing thousands of trades per day, every day? Electronic trading might help to some extent, but will it help Warka keep track of shares held in Proxy? :smoke:

Time to sort the paperwork and hold shares in your own name. IMO. For me, it's time to open an account with Karmal.

Pretty sure you missed the boat this year.

24th August, Credit Bank announced the free shares and divident.
11th August, Bank of Baghdad and Investment Bank of Iraq announced the free shares.

I believe Middle East Investment bank was announced long before that.

Basrah Bank is another I haven't received yet. :headbang:

Have you asked Mr I for your complete portfolio? Might be that you've received the shares but they just haven't emailled you about it.

I know how you feel on this one......I been trying to purchase stock since August and everytime I send a stock request to Warka, I don't receive a reply back now a days. Also I have the same problem with getting my transfer password! I just sent in a new stock purchase request today....let's see how long this will take. I would like to know if any IIF members are using Karmal services and how I can get started with them. Any help in this area would be much appreciated.

No problem. You didn't really miss much anyway. Free shares are issued but the share price tends to drop to balance it out. With Credit bank it's the divident that's 100% profit. If I ever receive it! :headbang:

Merry Xmas to you too.

Yes there are quite a few using Karmal as a broker. I've been PMing an IIFer about Karmal earlier today. He might turn up and be your hero at some point.
You have to buy shares in your own name through Karmal. No proxy service is available. The account opening contract is on their website.

Warka's service lately has been lousy to say the least.I asked for a prinout of my portfolio-they sent copies of the original sales. They totally screwed up my last 3 orders. When I asked Mr. I about the service,he got haughty with me-then I asked if it would be better to close my account, and use another broker,he got extremely nice, and gave me a talk about they have 8,000 foreign customers and are working 12-14 a day, etc.I do believe they are a good bank, extremely busy, and eventually they will get straightened out, probably after they go electronic. So,until then,we will just have to endure it or go elsewhere.
