Arbel / NINA /-- Presidentof Kurdistan region Massoud Barzani decided to rename / disputed areas / as / Kurdish areas outside the region / in order to denote the disputed areas covered by Article 140 of the Constitution.

President of the region stressed the decision is taken in order to preserve the Kurdish character of the areas which constitute of diverse component of population and its cultural heritage in accordance with the amended Law of the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region - Iraq (1) of 2005.

Barzani explained: "The issuance of this decision comes after a number of senior officials in the Iraqi government, intentionally abandoned using the name of reflecting desire not to implement the constitutional article 140.

The disputed areas a term used in accordance with the constitutional Article 140 on Kirkuk and some districts and counties in the provinces of Nineveh and Diyala. Wich are characterized by an ethnic mixture of Arabs , Turkmen, Kurds and Christians /Chaldean-Assyrian /.

Recently Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki used to rename these as / mixed areas / which was rejected by Kurds considering it as encroachment to Article 140 of the Constitution, .
