I created a tool to follow your purchses and sells, while summarizing your profit or loss. You input the price you paid and the computer will find the current price of the share and make the calculations.

Later, I will add code to give summary data and reports that include commission expenses as we will later need this information for tax purposes.

No, the current value is in Dinars. I have not placed the conversion to dollars yet. It is easy to calculate though, just divide the value in Dinars by the current exchange rate. My database does not keep track of the current conversion rate so the calculation is not there.

If you get free shares, just input the price/share for those shares as 0. The computer will give you credit for the shares at the current price.

The email filter has only 2 requirements other than unacceptable characters (which I will not give for security reasons). You need an "@" character and length limit of 20 characters. I changed the maximum length to 50 characters. Hope that helps.

Give me a little more information. Do you mean a view with all shares from each company, i.e. Warka combined? If so, that view will not know what price you paid since it will vary. I could still create a view with companies grouped with total shares owned then give you the current value of that company.

You are correct. I checked the code and the commission is curently not deducted. I will get to that soon.

The input is straight forward. There are separate input boxes for number of shares purchased. Price of each share. Commission for the trade. The computer will update your gain or loss every time new ISX data comes out.

I plan to create a graph of your loss or gain but that may take a while.

Remember, I am not a professional programmer. Yet, I can track down any problem. What info is missing from the Stock Tracker?

Part of the problem some people may have is related to the creation of the database. Early on, the ISX changed company names many times. It was difficult to figure out what data went to what company.

As far as the tracker is concerned, though, it only compares two prices. The price you paid (and input yourself ) with the most current day trading price. The ISX has been much better about keeping the names the same.

BTW, I made some updates to the tracker tool. I placed your total commission next to your profit or loss. I also linked the share tracker tool to the split/dividend tool. When your purchased shares are listed, the computer will check the IraqStockX split/dividend tool and evaluate if a member placed a split in the tool that applies to your shares.

We all know if is very difficult to pin down exactly when a split or dividend is given, so I expect some problems with this analysis. Yet, it is a good start so maybe we can get more specific about when splits actually occurred.

I got motivated to do this when I received a new certificate from Al-Karmal for Mosul Bank that included all of my three previously purchased shares of Mosul bank then gave me the 12% free shares. I noticed that someone had already placed this split in the split/dividend tool, yet I just got my updated certificate today.

I added a graph of your total daily profit below your list of currently held shares. The graph shows the last 14 trading days so you can get an idea of how your portfolio has done relative to the last few weeks.

I'm trying to enter commercial I bought for someone and keep getting an error

Two issues:

First: for those who write their own code (technical stuff), this type of error should not be exposed. Instead you should have received a generalized error and I would have found the specific error in the logs. I generally always set the error notification configuration back the the more secure mode. For those who have concerns about security issues; sorry. Minor thing, but still.

Now, your error. I was working on the site yesterday and noticed that when you wanted to update a record from your shares view page, the code was adding the record as a new record instead of replacing the record. So, I wrote code that replaced the record instead of adding another record. You obviously found a bug and the bug has been fixed. Remember guys, I am a part-timer on this stuff. I do check the code myself, yet is is just about impossible to catch all of them until people start to use the page. Thanks for the heads up here. If anyone gets a general error (that is all you are going to get from now on), please let me know. The best thing about writing code, for me, is that the teacher never lies. If it is wrong, i cannot blame the computer. Sometimes I work for hours on a single bug. Always get it right and always learn something in the process. I should have been a programmer. Took the wrong road and ended up in medicine.

If you are referring to the Stock Tracker, you have to wait until your broker gives you the free shares. Then just place the quantity of free shares at a price of 0 dinars.

You cannot rely on the exact dates of the split dividend tool. The dates are from members and are only estimates. I think you can rely on the fact that the split or dividend did occur though.
