Hi ISXers, dont go mad and spend all your IQDs on new stock, maintain enough funds to get maximum paid up shares when the offer comes along, expect them from Basrah Bank & National Bank Iraq,
also i think the amount of time NBI has not traded, not since November i think, they might be selected to go electronic next time round,JMHO.BRING IT ON.:dance:HB

Good points HB, I am wondering if more companies will begin to pay dividends in the future instead of the free shares. I certainly hope so, as many people will reinvest these dividends and increase the values of the shares.

This may be a dumb question ....i'm a complete noob when it comes to the market...is there a set share amount...like per company...they use to determine Free Share and Paid up Shares? I thought they were just determined as a percentage of total shares held?
It is totally up to each individual company based on their own financial positions as to how they pay out OR don't pay out. It is decided in their general assembly meetings.

It would be foolish to buy paid-up capital shares in National Bank, since their stock is trading UNDER 1 dinar. Warka Bank has already said that their policy is to NOT even bring this to the attention of their customers.

War Eagle,i hope when National bank Iraq comes out of AGM and starts trading again, their stock goes 1.5 then issues 10%paid up shares to holders, just like Basrah bank, look how long they have been trading since AGM,up to 1.35 and still going up,waiting on 20%-40%.just get ready.

There were cash dividends for 2006 and 2007. I didn't qualify for the 2006 one, so I can't help you there.
The 2007 cash dividend is 11.845%. That was credited to my account yesterday.
I think Warka will stop trading after tomorrow because of "meetings". Not sure. Curious as to the outcome of the "meetings".

Kev.the reason i asked this question is because i read on iraqism.com that there was instance that Al-Basrah bank lowered its stock price to suit a very large private purchase of stock at a set price per.share, and lowered it for them.

Agreed Crow,i dont have a problem with this at the moment, but when i go in for a big purchase of a certain stock it is always higher than last offered price i get.like i said i do not have a prob.with this cause i am already up some 40 mill IQD.for this years trading so far.but if on the other hand a bank was going down or merge,i would be pissed off.

Nice capital investment in Al-Mamoura Realestate, great company, good builder, will do very well. Not sure who the investor is yet, but a lot of foreign interest shown in the company.

I've only been getting appx. 1 out of 5 stocks bought, upon every purchase attempt...and then I'm not notified for appx. a week or so after that, that I actually got them bought...it takes several attempts to buy many of them, and on some days, certain ones don't trade...also, I don't know what happens on the other ones that do trade, and then you still dont get some of them even???

National bank comment. I don't care if warka does not want to waste time with giving us the 90% paid up at 1 since people can buy it below 1, because I don't want to buy 200,000 shares of this stock, but I will pay the 1 for my small amount that I get and it adds up for next time. I emailed Warka on this topic and asked for my shares and we shall see what happens. I will let you know what they say.

Do we get the free 10% shares of national bank, or is that a waste of time as well, what the hell is the difference, a few extra key strokes and each person could get the 90%. that makes me mad if I don't get my 90% paid up shares.

....................a couple of years ago or so by Warka was basically this, Not that it was bothersome on them...or not worth their time to offer their customers paid up shares of a company when its going price was less than 1 IQD....but! they didn't feel it was a good deal and in the best intrest for their customer. Why "Encourage" a customer to pay MORE for a stock than it was worth?! So they didn't want offer them to their customers. I think Warka (In their OWN way) is trying to look out for thier clients! Especially the foreign customers who might not fully understand how the paidup capitol shares work? I know that I, for one didn't quite understand all the differences when they first started talking...FREE shares...Paid up shares...dividends etc. There were more questions than answers at first! Of course the playing field has changed now! Back then you didn't have the minimum stock purchase to worry about....so! I can see why Warka wouldn't want to offer you 10,000-20,000 shares or so of a stock for more than you could purchase it for......it would be better(cheaper)for their client to just PURCHASE the stock if they wanted it! However! As I said...now the playing field has changed! There ARE "Minimum Stock Purchase Limits," and they may go higher before this is all over! There are investers that may not wish to OR NOT BE ABLE TO purchase 200,000 shares of a stock at the time, but wouldn't mind paying a little more for an amount less than the minimum. I firmly believe it should be a CUSTOMER DECISION and not Warka just making the decission for everyone, assuming that just because it is in their clients best interest....that it's what all of their clients are INTERESTED in doing! Personally....I wouldn't want to pay MORE for a stock than it's going rate?! But that's just me!?! I honestly believe that Warka had their clients best intrest in mind when they made this call....but! times have changed...the rules have changed....Warka needs to revisit this issue if they are truly concerned about customer satifaction! Everyone should have the option to make their own choice that fits their own investment plan! I hope Mr. I is reading this thread....maybe they'll take the hint?!:wondering:
JMO!

I agree with the above post.
At one 'time', we could buy whatever amount we wanted to but NOT anymore. So, I don't care what price the stock is currently trading at - I want the option to buy it at the Paid Up Capital Share Price. For some of us, that is the ONLY way to add to your portfolio since the 200,000 share rule began.
Although, I truly don't think it is going to be an issue as I SERIOUSLY doubt that there will be many stocks left that are trading UNDER 1 IQD.
I'm really looking forward to the day when I'm offered Paid Up Capital Shares on a 10, 20, or 50 IQD Per Share Stock.
I did check my portfolio and I only have 3 Stocks trading under 1 IQD:
Al Therar Agriculture - 0.4 IQD (I don't know HOW I ended up with 40,000 shares of this that I paid 0.91 IQD for - probably 'Crow'!!!:dull:)
Al-Hilal Industries - 0.95 IQD
National Bank - 0.9
On the PLUS side - I also don't know how I ended up with 400,000 shares of Al-Badia Transportaion (currently 5.0 IQD) that I paid 1.57 IQD for - probably 'Crow'!!!:inlove:)

Thank You!
I have no intention of selling it - I just don't remember how I happened to buy it, nor why I bought as much of it as I did.
Most of my non-banking stocks are in the 50,000 to 200,000 share range with the exception of the brewery (900,000) shares and have helped keep me in the black most of the time, but Al-Badia, Economy Bank, and Warka are my big winners... so far!
