Hi

I have some dinars in my Warka account and am interested in buying shares in something else other than banks.

Is the Baghdad Soft Drinks Company worth a punt ?

Any other food/drinks companies worth investing in ???

Thanks in advance for any helpful advice

Baghdad soft Drink is a very good company to own. They are still very low from the highs of 04;Also Saad Al-Bunia (owner of Warka Bank, and a lot of companies in Iraq) owns stock in it.You can go to Al-Bunia.com-very interesting. My stock in North Drink hasn't done much.Food was at .75,and has about a 50% increase in the last 6 months. They are also very low from their high. You can go on the stock exchange, click on bullitins, previous and get all the results from the re-opening of the exchange in 04.Hope this helps,Good luck,War Eagle

PS; Between Baghdad Soft Drink, and North Drink-they control the Pepsi market in Iraq.Baghdad Drink is over twice the size of North.Coke was thrown out of Iraq years ago because they were thought to have sided with Israel in one of their many conflicts.Since then Coke has been imported from other countries,However,Saad Al-Bunia has a franchise now,and is distributing coke in Iraq, but it will take time to get a foothold since Pepsi is so well though of in Iraq. Also, I don't think his stock is available, except Warka Bank.

Crow it does have real heavy volume but, the share price rarely moves.
Any idea way it doesn't move much? I reckon they have a huge amount of shares unsold.

I did read somewhere that they are modernizing their machinery and factory. I got a few million and I believe this stock will pay big. Cheers

SO baghdad soft drinks then ????

IMO definitely yes  did I use sound investment experience to come to that conclusion? No :shake: do I think sound investment experience is useful when considering this company as a good punt? Not at all :shake: do I think most stocks in the ISX at this point are a no brainer? Yes absolutely

"Worth a punt" - that's an interesting phrase I had not heard in this manner. When first reading it I figured you wanted to kick, or punt, it from your holdings, not acquire some.

BTW, numbers look good but I can't offer anything else as I don't personally have any.

I am interested in purchasing in BPEP. Can someone, in plain english explain the steps I need to take to purchase in BPEP?

All I have done to this point is buy about 650,000 Iraqi Dinars which I have in my posession in hopes they will go up in value.

After reading this post I think it would make alot of sense to also buy stock in BPEP as well. But I have no idea on how to go about it.

Would appreciate if anyone could explain how I can purchase BPEP in a language a novelist like me can understand. Thanks. :happy64:

You will have to open an account with a broker in Iraq. Most on the IIF use Warka Bank,or Karmal. You will the have to either sell your dinars, and wire the money to Iraq,or send the dinars direct.Personally,I sent mine to Warka via Fedex-cost me $74.The US Postal Service will send for $13.95-probably as good as any.You will then have to communicate with whomever you decide to deal with.I recomment Karmal, but you will have to have a passport to open an account.I didn't with Warka. There is plenty of information in the archives of this forum to tell you how to open an account.Hope this helps, good luck

Thank you for your information War Eagle. Actually I wasn't going to use the Dinars i already have. I was going to use cash or wire transfer to purchase stock.

Did you say with Warka, I will not need a passport? Presently I do not have one.

Thanks again.

I have had the account with Warka since early 07.At that time I merely sent the dinars to Warka with a lead sheet telling them where I wanted the money to go.I then had to scan my driver's license, and my wife's to Warka.Policy might have changed.Email Mr. I at Warka and he will tell you what to do.Info is available in archives.Good luck

Once an account is set up simply scan a sheet telling Warka what stocks to buy.Minimun order is 200,000 shares, give name, account number, and sign it.
