Am I misreading the latest quotes on share prices: 1100 to 1600 IQD? I thought they were 1 to 5 or 6 IQD with a minimum purchase of 200,000 shares

Does this mean one needs 200,000 USD to buy a million shares or have I misread or miscalculated my figures?

Any help from the more experienced investors on here would be greatly appreciated. Also, do the banks sell bonds, I didnt see them mentioned on Warka or ISX

Many Thanks!!

Hi Royal Beluga,
If you go to the Arabic ISX site, and translate with Google, the prices shown for opening and closing are different than the price shown on the portal translated site, It may be a translation error, the decimal points are commas on the translated ISX in Arabic,ie:
6.400 is {6,400}

Yes I just noticed that, I wonder what Crow thinks?

When I use MSN translator I get the decimal points on the English side and a mixture on the Iraqi side, I guess the only way to confirm is ask someone who has stock certificates from ISX.

Stock certificates show the name of the issuing company, the certificate number, the date of issue of the certificate, the owner of the shares & the amount of shares owned...they do not show the current share price.

I got my info from clicking on the the right side of the page ; buletins-daily, electronic, monthly, you then will see the share price. I didnt mean to alarm folks, it was evidently a trans-typo issue, since they all show with decimal points now. I have requested an acct with Warka today and am trying to beat the clock and get some footprint in ISX before they close trading sessions. Can foreigners trade electronic stocks too?

Yes, the foreigners can trade electronic stocks without any problem.

It sounds like you may not have ISX documents arranged. Sorry, dont mean to be presumptious, but this needs to be done, before you can trade.

Actually I'm waiting on email from Warka with an acct # so I can wire some $$ to Citibank through the process that has been very kindly posted on this site and fund that bad boy!!!

jaycon62, pay closer attention to what 24mm is asking you. There is more to the paperwork than funding your Warka account...you may not have ISX documents arranged.

Here's a post from Seaview earlier this year:

The share certificates are in Al-Warka Bank Vaults and I have scanned copies. If I wish to keep them myself then I am at liberty to request they are sent to me. This is standard procedure. Are they safe? Well I guest that's the risk. I am comfortable with this. The Brokerage Houses keep Certificates also.

There is an entire thread in the Warka Bank section explaining the procedure to have shares in your 'Good Name'. I cannot give you advice on this as I am not based in the US and the procedure varies from Country to Country. It's basically having your ID confirmed and registered with your Government and Iraqi Embassy. It's not difficult, just a bit time consuming.

If you have not done this then the shares will not be transferred to your Good Name. I'm guessing you are buying through Proxy and that is how they will stay until you transfer them or the procedure changes - which it may well do if the Foreign Investment Law is altered, which it may well be. You can decide to wait and see what happens or go ahead and have documents verified.

I don't think buying through Proxy is going to be indefinite. Anyone applying from October 2008 who is not already in the Proxy is no longer allowed to buy through Warka Proxy, according to Mr I.

Hope that helps. :wondering:
