Thought it be a good idea to suss out what many out there with plenty of experience think about not only the 'banker' stocks but also 'good emerging stock buys'.

Aside bank stocks, what else do you hold and you feel will do very well over the next 3 years or so?

Construction, concrete factories, hotels. Good future investments I feel. I wanted Iraqi Land Transport too but couldn't buy in. May try again shortly.

Then there are the banks, which have been solid.

With a relative calm in the country, things are looking promising indeed.

If you could only buy one stock right now, what would it be?

Thank you,

I would split those orders. Send the electronic ones first i.e Warka, MEIB and the others in a separate order.

If you're looking for a "steal" and want to diversify, don't forget Al-therar for Agriculture and Al-Khair Investment. Both at a fraction of a dinar each (.45 -.6) and have in my opinion, good potential. Iraq was known as the "Fertile Crescent" and the "breadbasket of the Middle East, and I believe their Agriculture sector will thrive. Recent changes to the laws regarding Investment companies should benefit Al-khair. Again, a smaller outlay of dinars for either and I believe in trying to diversify, because you never know which one could be a real winner.

I think Al Hilal is a good one to own when it starts trading again.

My biggest holdings are warka, meib, baghdad softdrinks, bob, and economy. I'm trying to get more baghdad hotel now. Meib has been good to me though.

I've managed to get stock in 12 companies since March and discovered lately that the minimum 200,000 share purchase isn't required anymore. I'd like to buy chemical stock but don't know which one is best? Modern or National chemical industries? Anyone have any ideas at all?

How so? Has there been any official announcement to that affect?

Just got an email from one of the brokers today when I asked him if I need to make a 200,000 minimum share purchase? He replied "No, there is no minimum".

Thank you for that very important information. Can you post the name of the Broker and possibly a redacted copy of the letter?

My broker's 'Al Karmal'. But if you tell me how to post a redacted copy of the email, I can do it, Just PM me if you can give me the instructions on redacted copy. I will send it to you. Yes, I think it's important too, especially if buying the high price stocks like hotels.

Electronic Industries - I read that they own lots of prime real estate.

My broker's 'Al Karmal'.

Kadeda, how did you fund your account? Do they have anything as easy as Warka...where in the US, you simply deposit into their New York Account and they handle the rest?

My vote for single best stock is : Iraqi Land Transport...of which I seem unqualified to buy...oh well, another order submitted.

Hi Kickabuck
Yes, I funded it through HSBC in U.K. Check 'iraqstockx.com' for more info on setting up an account with Al Karmal and he can give you further instructions about funding your account with Al Karmal company. But re funding I also believe you can also send an authorised letter through Al Warka instructing them to fund for free through an 'RTGS' process: Inter bank payments inside Iraq can be done for free this way (quoting RTGS in your authorisation letter to Al Warka) as far as I know. The latter is my understanding. Do double check with Al Warka though.

Hi
Just got my share purchases in 4 companies today. Can confirm no minimum purchase order from Al Karmal (including just a mere 2000 shares in Baghdad Hotel, I couldn't make a minimum purchase in these anyway as they are 27 per share). Thanks Al Karmal.:clapping:

Dumb Question to savvy Iraq investors. Once I get my Warka account set up...how do I buy stocks? And where would I go to get that type of information?

you can do a search on iif but here's the thread. you MUST have a valid u.s. passport before you can do anything. that is an absolute first.

good luck!
