Towards the end of its presidency of the electoral Kurdistan parliament to ratify the draft Constitution of the Territory with the intention of introducing a referendum to coincide with elections to be held on 25 July.
The information advisor to the President Tariq Parliament yesterday that the essence of the Presidency of the parliament decided to ratify the draft constitution of Kurdistan province during the current session is scheduled to be submitted to popular referendum with a general election to be held in the province during the month of July next.
The essence of that approach was the Independent Electoral Commission about the possibility of putting the constitution to a popular referendum during the next elections in Kurdistan, adding that the UNHCR had asked to study the subject.
He drew the essence of the existence of views in parliament asking to postpone the referendum on the Constitution of Kurdistan Region until the end of the issue of the disputed areas, particularly Kirkuk, to enable them to also participate in the referendum in the event of entry into the province of Kurdistan.
The Parliament of Kurdistan two years ago promising a draft constitution that the province benefit from the expertise of legal and was presented last year to political parties and civil society organizations and citizens.
