What Insurance Companies are available or trading? Al-Ameen, Dar-Salam, with Al-Hamrra listed with but no trades yet. Al-Ameen is easiest to pick up now.

Al-Hamra is listed and worth a try to pick up shares, a foreign insurance company owns 20%.

I like your thinking, Crow. Thank you. I also scooped up on Iraqi Land Transport when it was undesirable.

For me it took over year to build up my stake in the transports, with orders in every session. A lot of times they would not trade, or just get a small amount, it was not easy, took some work. That is why it is key to invest in sectors when nobody is interested , because it takes time to pick up enough shares or for that matter any shares, case in point the insurance and investment sectors.

I agree with Crow that the insurance sector is very well positioned to benefit from the post war economy. Although its in very early stages, it has tremendous long-term potential

No not exactly, the insurance business is quite profitable in Iraq. It's just that the concept of insurance is very new in Iraq and the vast majority of Iraqis aren't insured YET!

True, they will be profitable when the government requires them to have insurance, or once Iraq becomes prosperous and needs insurance.
