Baghdad (AIN) –MP, Maha al-Dori, of the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee stated that the Justice Minister, Hassan al-Shimari, while hosting him in the Committee, confirmed that he has received a letter from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, stated that the MPs are not allowed to visit the prisons without notifying the ministry two hours before.
Speaking to All Iraq News Agency (AIN), she stated "Shimari stated that Maliki sent him a letter, requesting him to prevent the MPs from visiting the prisons without notifying the Justice Ministry two hours before the visits," noting that "In another meeting attended by the parliament Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, I requested Shimari to show me the letter, but he changed his words and said that Maliki informed him orally."
"We will reveal the details of our meeting with Shimari within the next few days in the media outlets," she concluded.
