Hello Everyone,
I've been following the information provided about opening a Warka account and how one goes about buying/selling stocks on the ISX.
The possibilities do seem very appealing, particularly after viewing some of the videos that have been provided about foreign business entry and foreign investment.
My question is directed toward anyone that's already got some experience with investing in this market. I'm an experienced investor dealing in US securities, however, I wouldn't know the first thing about what companies to look at or invest in for Iraq.
Can anyone share their thoughts about investments they've made, what sectors they've looked at, what they feel has the best potential? It almost seems like it makes sense to approach it as you would an index fund -- just try to invest in a portion of securities across the board in variety of industries and see what develops.
Anyway, I would appreciate any feedback from those with experience and some good suggestions that could lead me toward further research.
Thanks,
Vinnie.

THERE ARE MANY POSTS RE STOCK PIX IN THE ISX PORTION OF THIS FORUM. most of us are in the bank stocks-then diversified throughout the different sectors. i would suggest iraqi land transport and fallujah for construction, and of course, the ever lovable......wait for it...........WARKA bank stock.....be prepared for a long ride. no profit takers allowed!!

Thanks,
Vinnie. The best position to be in at this point is to have your own "Iraqi Fund" across the board stock positions in all sectors.

I am not psychic crow, but if I were a bettin man, I would bet that vinnie7 new about this investment back in 2004. But that's just a reasoned guess.

Why didn't he invest in the ISX?
Because, he is an "experienced investor dealing in US securities" NOT exotic markets.
This is why.
We hope that Vinnie may work for JP Morgan and can direct a measly Billion the ISX's way..
Can You Vinnie?

Well Vinnie7 has been a member scince 2005 so he has to be aware with all the happening, with 70 companies listed and approx 35 trading daily there is not much stats to explore and very easy to track each sectors growth.
For bigger invester who should be long term I totally agree with Crow that all sectors are good and cheap and easy to diversify. Although when big money comes in it will look for safe heavens like banks.

Are there any US mutuals that are or will be investing in Iraqi entities?
Are there any US mutuals that are or will be investing in Iraqi entities? Now you have the Babylon Fund which invests in Iraqi stocks, bonds etc and the Marshall Fund which invests directly in private companies/projects etc I think each has a minimum of $100,000. But there are a number of funds/ETF's in the works by major brokerage firms/banks, which should come on line the beginning of next year. One could be announced before the end of this year, maybe.

Honestly, it was easy to get into the ISX, sit back and not get to excited, and just forget about it. Let's face it, things were slow for awhile. Lately, even though I try not to think about my investments in the ISX, I can't help myself. There is actually ALOT to be excited about. The ISX really is where the BIG money will be made, and things are really starting to turn around for their economy. :clapping::rock::party:
