I sent her a copy of the article regarding the ISX opening date of 9/22. I also asked her if she could receive gifts, that we had been talking about sending her flowers. (Something I suppose is tough to find in the dessert.)
Her response....

"Thank you for your e-mail dated Sep 13,2004. I’m so sorry for this delay , we faced problems in communications since the bombs in the green zone and car bombs in Baghdad , all our communications are to slow and too heavy and most of time not working , so I’m so sorry.
I here this too but only from foreign investors , our broker said that he didn’t hear such things , and if it’s open sure I’ll buy you the shares you told me to buy .
Thank you so mush for your care about me , that’s really kind from you , there is no need to bother yourself , your care is really a big gift and if you are satisfied in may work , that’s will be the biggest and greatest gift ( I hope you are all of Iraq investors members ) . "

You could probably do it all at once, but I would break it into several steps. Personnally, I wired the money and sent instructions for my dinar exchange the same day. I followed up with a nice remeinder email about the exchange instructions after getting confirmation of the deposit, but no info on the exchange. Got info on my exchange a few days later. I haven't done ISX picks yet, but I'd keep that in a separate email; I have to think that it is easier for R to manage the information flow with instructions being distinct.

Got a reply from R today. I had asked her about the rumor that we were hearing about the currency not being traded on the street. I was concerned we would not be able to exchange our USDs any longer or at least until it opened on the world market. Her response was...
