I have applied for a couple of accounting jobs with KBR in the ME, but I am unable to talk to a recruiter. I did talk to a lady, who gives out employment info, who told me accounting recruiters don't go to recruiting events and all I can do is wait.
I was actually kind of surprised that they hire accountant types, but somebody has to keep track. It doesn't seem like the work and living arrangements over there would be very attractive to most accountants. Can anyone tell me:
Is there much account/finance hiring?
Any advice on getting hired? Any advice at all?
Before I finished college, I made several trips to the Bering Sea (Alaska), as a factory trawler deckhand, so going away to work in a somewhat inhospitable environment is not totally foriegn to me. Thanks

I posted this in a different thead but I know oof a few folks that found the jobs on teh KBR/JOBs site each one of these have a recruiter's name , phone number
I know of three folks that called directly and was luckly enough to reach a recruiter direclty and they got hired.
Again as I stated if you are looking for a accounting job I not sure what kind of pay you would come over for but I would suggest you also look at other jobs if coming over and working is a goal
ie Admin assistant - does a lot of Excell work etc
labor foremen - over see's local nationals working on different basic projects
are a few examples that may increase your chances of getting called.

It's not attractive to anybody. Somethings you should think twice about before you decide to take a job over here:
Living in tents with 10 to 50 different room mates.
Sleeping on a cot.
Sharing bathroom and shower facilities with others.
Dealing with power outages, broken heaters in the winter, broken A/C's in the summer, slow outdated computer equipment, scorpions, poisones snakes, sand flies, sand storms, etc.
Oh, and crazy insurgents trying cut your head off on national TV.
Like they say, watch what you wish for.

wouldnt surprise me if a full 3rd of KBR isnt Admin. After all...only takes manual and skilled labor for objective completion. Because the Gov't wont allow simple billing---The rest is an army of contract admins, finance, buyers, procurement, negotiators, government compliance, LNO's, inventory, logistics admin (which is an army unto itself), operations, engineers, etc..
it only takes a few drivers to bring in the goods---but it takes twice as many to get them located, bid process, paid for, transported to the border, rental for the trucks and fuel, (another source), and a ton others.

My advise is to find any other company to work for than KBR.Over there we liked to call it KBR correctional facility. There is absolutly no integrity from the ground up.Dont do it..it is not worth it.

I think every camp has a finance and accounting office so, yes, there are accounting jobs here. Don't listen to the whiners because they are never happy. They whined when they were here and now that they aren't they still whine. If you're still interested apply online, (which is what I did), and keep bugging them.

Hello 2befinance. Fisrt off welcome to the forum and I am new to this place myself.
There are a few posts here worth listening too and then.....
I have been here in the same camp for 22 months, will be staying perhaps another year, perhaps not. There is a huge collection of admin, including finance. It is not a desirable place to be, however if you are looking for a quick fix to any financial problems this is the place to be.
My experience concerning getting on with KBR is just luck. Sometimes you can know this person and that, have the recruiter's phone #, etc. However it's been my experience that that doesn't necessarily make a difference. If your resume is what they are looking for and they need you , you'll get the call. But outside of that good luck. It's just how it is.
This is from talking to some of these guys that have doing this with KBR for over 15 years, since Haiti.
My best advice to you is to check out other companies. They pay more. KBR is one of the lowest. And as far as the jobs, it's easy.
Good Luck and call anytime.
