Warned Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki that the failure of his premiership again would mean the return of Iraq to the cycle of violence, which was based upon taking office in 2006.
Maliki stressed in an interview published in The New York Times, American opposition to any attempt to curtail the powers of the prime minister if he took office again because he does not want to be just a traffic policeman, he said.
He can be either prime minister or nothing, saying that stripping the prime minister's powers will weaken the control of the country and then it is going to do Selamun the collapse of Iraq.
Maliki said that any country needs a strong leader and Iraq in particular because of the problems and challenges, adding that there is no weak leader in Baghdad will be restored, in reference to the reign of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.
