Coalition between Iraqiya, Dawlat al-Qanoon unsuccessful US project – Sadrist MP
July 18, 2010 - 07:58:28
BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Sadrist Lawmaker Ameer al-Kinani on Sunday expressed his expectations that a coalition between the Al-Iraqiya Alliance and the Dawlat al-Qanoon Alliance will not succeed, explaining that it comes under U.S. pressures.
“This coalition will not be achieved, because it has been formed under U.S. pressures,” al-Kinani told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
He described the Shiite National Coalition as strong and one that cannot be collapsed, and explained that the NC will resume talks within two days, and will hold continuous meetings to select the coming prime minister of Iraq.
Yesterday, Izat al-Shabandar, a Shiite leading figure of the Dawlat al-Qanoon Alliance, said that the Iranian presence in Iraq relies on the existence of the National Coalition (NC).
“As far as the NC continues between the Dawlat al-Qanoon Alliance and the Iraqi National Alliance (INA), Iran will find a role for itself in the Iraqi issue,” al-Shabandar told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
He illuminated that he is not surprised by this relationship between Iran and the NC, because Iran itself formed the NC.
The Dawlat al-Qanoon Alliance and the Iraqi National Alliance (INA) will resume their talks within two days to choose the coming prime minister of Iraq, Hassan al-Sinaed, another leading Shiite figure of the Dawlat al-Qanoon, confirmed earlier yesterday.
“The Dawlat al-Qanoon Alliance will not accept abandoning the National Coalition (NC) with the INA,” al-Sinaed told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
He noted that the dialogue between the Dawlat al-Qanoon Alliance and the Al-Iraqiya Alliance is moving “in a good manner, but will not affect the NC.”
Talks between the Dawlat al-Qanoon Alliance and the INA have been paused for around two weeks, but Kurd Lawmaker Abdilbari Zebari sees that Iran will activate the NC between the Dawlat al-Qanoon Alliance and the INA.
“Iran will make huge efforts to activate the NC and end disputes in it, to bridge the gap between NC’s members and to nominate a prime minister from within it,” Zebari told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
He noted that Iran does not want a coalition between the Al-Iraqiya Alliance and the Dawlat al-Qanoon Alliance, stressing that “the Iranian move will be on the opposite of such a coalition.”
“The Iranian move will also be big and strong to eliminate U.S. efforts to bridge the gap between the Al-Iraqiya Alliance and the Dawlat al-Qanoon Alliance,” Zebari added.
He referred to recent U.S. efforts in this regard as attempts to minimize Iranian influence in Iraq, to make America the major player within the Iraqi arena.
