Baghdad, Nov. 30 (AKnews) - The Iraqi oil minister, Hussein al-Shahristani, called on the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), on Tuesday, to increase its oil production to reach 100,000 barrels per day as agreed upon between the parties, noting that the region must achieve this number to keep the 17% share of the general budget.

The oil contracts signed by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) with foreign companies are the issues between Baghdad and Erbil; in which, the differences between Erbil and Baghdad must be resolved through the constitution and the parliament.

The former parliament failed to pass the oil and gas law, which was expected to raise the oil situation in the country, observers and experts involved in oil studies believe that Iraq is missing a clear oil policy.

The Iraqi Oil Ministry which is represented by the Iraqi Drilling Company announced the completion of drilling of 35 oil wells since the beginning of this year in cooperation with international companies in different parts of the country.

Iraq seeks to raise its oil production to 10-12 million barrels per day within the next six years, according to its licensing rounds carried out with foreign companies.
