Fast-Food Ice Dirtier Than Toilet Water

Feb. 20, 2006 — Jasmine Roberts never expected her award-winning middle school science project to get so much attention. But the project produced some disturbing results: 70 percent of the time, ice from fast food restaurants was dirtier than toilet water.

The 12-year-old collected ice samples from five restaurants in South Florida — from both self-serve machines inside the restaurant and from drive-thru windows. She then collected toilet water samples from the same restaurants and tested all of them for bacteria at the University of South Florida.

In several cases, the ice tested positive for E. coli bacteria, which comes from human waste and has been linked to several illness outbreaks across the country......

There is a reason people that work at some fast food places say they will never eat there.

Reminds of people saying dogs mouths are cleaner then yours so it ok to let the dog lick you, oh wait they the dog was licking where earlier?

Ice Machines are prime breeding grounds for Funk ... and I have seen personaly that there is every color under the rainbow of different types & stains of algae scale and Bacteria growth..

I NEVER order ice in Any of my Beverages ever .. even Iced tea gets no Ice as well .
I will send the beverage back if I do recieve ice in my drink by Mistake.... Unless I make the Ice myself..

Commercial Bagged Ice is tested more often and there Equipment is probley maintained more often than say a Fast Food Resturant.. or A Greasy Spoon Dinner
