BAGHDAD, March 3 (Reuters) - Iraq's parliament is likely to hold its first session since being elected in December within the next 10 days, most probably on March 12, government sources said on Friday.

"The meeting is around then, it could be on the 11th but so far what we are talking about is March 12," said one source, noting there was a constitutional deadline for the legislature to meet by then following the certification of the election results.

"If we do not meet by that time, we would be violating the law," he told Reuters.

A second government official confirmed the plan.

According to the Transitional Administrative Law, the U.S.-sponsored interim constitution, the new parliament has to meet within two weeks of the Electoral Commission announcing certified results.

The parliament, elected on Dec. 15, has already missed that deadline but the timetable allows for an extension by 15 days. That second deadline ends on March 12.

My guess with Iraq?......they will find a loop hole for a third extension! But I do hope they get this off the ground on the 12th!

POSSIBLE, but I doubt it, I think the govt needs to be seated and settleed in first.

I HOPE March 12th is the day though.

I believe lots of people will buy more, since they will see the move upward starting to happen. Wealthy investors especially because now it will take $40,000.00 to buy a million dinar instead of the current rate.

I feel like it's dejavu in here. :lmao:

OK ... no more. Now hear/read this!

CBI has no auctions on FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. It's the weekend. Their work week begins on SUNDAY.

It's currently after 10pm there. Nothing's probably going to happen.

So, enjoy your weekend and give those fingernails a chance to grow a little.

Get up and get out and get some fresh air. If your hiney is conformed to your chair due to hanging around here to long, then bend over and waddle (I'm sure that's how it's be if your chair is stuck to ya - not that I'd know from personal experience) to your porch or deck or patio or yard or SOMETHING. Smell the fresh air or smog depending on where you live.

As someone has already stated, they might meet but that does not mean that they are going to decide anything. Personally, I believe they need a PM in place first. Now, they might meet and talk about the 'Jaafari no longer PM' issue, then again, maybe not. BUT, they are meeting, so let's hope something positive happens...

Chaka did. Post #5 in this thread.

He also supplied this in another thread:

"If we do not meet by that time, we would be violating the law,"

So it looks like they're going to meet. Now ... will they "do" anything?
