If your looking for something to make some money on the short term take a look at galaxy energy (GAX) NYSE $1.03 will reach $3.00 a share very shortly. take a look for your self.
Galaxy Energy Corporation is an oil and gas exploration and production company that is focused on acquiring and developing coalbed methane properties in the Powder River Basin of Wyoming and Montana, and other projects within the Rocky Mountain area. Our principal offices are in Denver, Colorado.
What is coalbed methane (also known as coalbed natural gas)?
Methane is the clean-burning component of natural gas.
In the vast coal beds of the Powder River Basin of northern Wyoming and Southern Montana, where the majority of our drilling and development operations are located, coalbed methane is formed by bacterial activity within the coal itself. Anaerobic bacteria classified as methanogens have the ability to generate large quantities of methane. As the methane is generated it is trapped (adsorbed) onto microscopic surfaces within the coal by water pressure.
In 2004, we launched an aggressive development program to drill wells in the coal beds of the Powder River Basin, with the goal of producing and selling coalbed methane.
CBM Production
The production of coalbed methane requires pumping water from the coal seam aquifer in order to release the water pressure that is trapping the methane gas in the coal. A well is drilled into the coal seam and then equipped with a water pump. The goal of coalbed methane production is to decrease the hydrostatic pressure above the coal seam by removing the water, or "dewatering" the CBM well. Water moving from the coal seam to the well bore encourages gas migration toward the producing well. As the water pressure is released, the methane gas will rise and is separated from the water and can be piped away and sold.
Galaxy's Powder River Basin CBM Well Count and Acreage Position
As of March 4, 2005, we had interests in 160 completed coalbed methane wells as well as another 69 wells in various stages of completion. Galaxy Energy, through our wholly owned subsidiary Dolphin Energy, holds leases to produce coalbed methane on more than 91,000 net acres in the Powder River basin ....

hmmm, I bought at .98 and it's listed for 1.07. so, someone's buying, i guess.
Anywho, GAX just posted their 10-K & 8-K yesterday (see links below). I thought the following paragragh from the Annual Report was interesting:
YEAR ENDED NOVEMBER 30, 2005 COMPARED TO YEAR ENDED NOVEMBER 30, 2004. During the year ended November 30, 2005, revenues from natural gas sales increased to $1,297,194 from $122,455 the year before. A total of 38 wells produced and sold 211,481 Mcf of natural gas in 2005 compared to 15 wells which sold 26,247 Mcf in 2004. Average prices received for gas sold increased to $6.13 in 2005 from $4.67 in 2004. Lease operating and production tax expenses also increased in 2005 to $965,069 or $4.56/Mcf, compared to $59, 247 or $2.26/Mcf the year before. This increase reflects both an overall escalation of operating costs throughout the oilfield and the costs associated with remedial work undertaken in our producing fields to maintain and boost production.
I'm a big fan of a 10 fold increase in revenue (if I read that correctly).
Also, the issuance of new shares means dilution, of which I am not a big fan. At this stage, I guess dilution is better than cash going out the door.
The kicker for this stock is going to be their coal bed interests in Germany (Glantal-1) which are operated by their wholly own subsidiary, Pannonian International Ltd. The test well has been dug and the results

After researching this stock my guess is that we're expecting good news from the Glantal-1 Project out of Germany. Pricing for Natural Gas in Europe is nice. They're estimating 4.1 Tcf of recoverable natural gas in the German project. Pannonian, Galaxy's wholly owned subsidiary, is trilling the first 3 wells in each of phase 1 and 2 of the project. If that turns out well, we could see a big spike in the price. Who knows.
I also looked into the founders of the company. This is not the first gas company that some of the heavy hitters have been involved with. I'm in for 1,000 shares...

The AMEX was unaware of the completion of
that financing at the time it sent its notice to the Company indicating that the Company does
not meet one of the AMEX's continued listing standards
J-boy
04-30-2006, 11:28 PM
Thanks Dinarcrazee.
It's a little too late, I bought into this because it looked like the company is close to down for the count, but could just as easily announce a development or two that would totally reverse the direction.
The AMEX thing could apparently have been avoided had AMEX been aware of new financing.
On the one hand, the company is run by a family experienced in bringing in wells, and apparently has some very promising properties. On the other, this company is a first for the family Jr., and the managemnet seems to have made several questionable moves that border on incompetence. Neglecting to notify AMEX of new funding is one such move.
Failure to communicate with shareholders is another dumb move, but it can be said that they seem fail this on both good and bad news. Maybe Jr is a spoiled rich kid, and hopefully his dad has his hands on the reigns, or will take them back soon.
At this point, a change of leadership might be the best news of all. But an anticipated announcement of highly productive wells would also cause a surge.
Here I am, biting my nails, waiting for this to become a 5 bagger, but patience of most shareholders is wearing thin. The stck is very likely to drop below a dollar this week, and might be a good buying opportunity, or might be a bottomless pit, but such is the game...
Hopefully Mike knows something that hasn't yet been disclosed, like the wells in Pinceance basin are producing magnificently. Still, why would management have a big NYC meeting and not say this?

to all who held steady. we got some very good news to day!.
Further Information Not released before re Glantal...
Glantal Gas Project
This is the first project entered into by Empyrean. It involves the drilling of
the exploration well Glantal-1 in the Neues Bergland permit near Frankfurt in
Germany and has the potential of discovering important accumulations of gas
measuring in the trillions of c.ft. The operator is Pannonian International Ltd
('Pannonian') a wholly-owned subsidiary of the US-based Galaxy Energy
Corporation. Empyrean has the opportunity to earn a 52% working interest.
The well was spudded on the 29th November 2005. The vertical well was slightly
deviated after reaching 650m, as planned, and the angle gradually increased to
30 degrees with a northeast bearing. Electric logs were run prior to the setting
of the 7 inch casing at 1022.5 metres in the 'Dilsburger' seal.
After some delays due to weather and technical set backs, the Gottelborn
Formation, the first of the proposed reservoirs, was intercepted at 1054 metres
measured depth (MD).
A total depth of 1687 metres (MD) was reached on the 25th January 2006, 340
metres short of the proposed total depth of 2025 metres. This premature
termination was due to the presence of a granitic type igneous rock intercepted
at 1632 metres (MD) underlying the sedimentary section.
During drilling there were increases from time to time in gas readings. There
was also a substantial fracture zone identified at 1450 metres when the drill
string fell 20cm. The electric logs indicated the presence of at least 20
intervals of porosity and permeability which could be potential gas filled
reservoirs.
It was unanimously decided to suspend the well to enable testing at a later
date. A 5 inch liner was emplaced and a detailed analysis embarked upon of the
various logs which included sophisticated fracture detection logs. These studies
have resulted in the identification of four zones which will be tested
separately for hydrocarbon content.
At present preparations are being made to carry out those tests with a local
workover rig expected by the operator to arrive on site in June 2006.
Should these tests prove successful for hydrocarbon content the initial
productivity of the reservoirs will be assessed and on the basis of such
assessment the operational committee will consider undertaking artificial
fracturing enhancement.

Have been watching this stock for some time now.
IMO, there's better small cap investment in oil sands in a stock like MSEV.
MSEV is going to be doing a forward split 3 for 1 around June 12.
If you own 10,000 shares, you'll then own 30,000 shares after the forward
split. Connacher is up above $5 Canadian currently. It looks like MSEV
is going to take off soon. My guess is it'll happen after oil prices spike
in Nov.
My natural gas stocks which include some decent companies that aren't
tiny microcaps are all hurting right now with the downward trend in N Gas
prices. They'll recover when prices spike again come winter.
Oil is another critter entirely. As a commodity, it's holding its price.
It doesn't look like we're going to see $45 a barrel oil again unless
they tap Afghanistan's insanely huge supplies. Oil sands hold a better
value as an investment imo. Just my take.
