Erbil, Feb.1 (AKnews)-The head of the Oil Exporters Union of the Islamic Republic of Iran said Monday Iran will provide Afghanistan from Iran’s gasoline after it stopped the transfer of the Kurdistan Region gasoline to Afghanistan due to cultural, economic and security reasons.

http://www.aknews.com/images/cms-image-000057719.jpgThe Iranian official ISNA news agency cited Hameed Hosseini as saying the cultural, economic and security concerns compelled Iran to stop Kurdish gasoline exports to Afghanistan.

“The transfer of the gasoline from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq cost daily 30,000 to 40,000 U.S. Dollars as reimbursement for the tankers of the private sector” Hosseini said, adding the Iranian oil ministry and national oil exploring and drilling companies have been engaged in talks with Afghan officials to provide their demanded gasoline.

On the one hand, the Kurdish Region’s officials exported their gasoline while they encountered issues with Baghdad government, and on the other al-Qaeda militant organization has repeatedly warned the transferred gasoline to Afghanistan goes to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) forces, Hosseini explained.

As the Iranian official mentioned the arrival of the Iraqi tanker drivers into Iran had entailed some “cultural complications.” However, he did not allude to any specifically.

The Iranian media reported during Sunday night’s meeting between Iranian and Afghan officials, the two sides agreed for Iran to transfer to Afghanistan 2,000,000 liter of gasoline, a better grade than the Iraqi Kurdistan gasoline. However, the price is yet to be set.
