Erbil, Feb. 9 (AKnews) - Kurdish president Massoud Barzani stated today that everyone is entitled to ask for government reshuffle but not the dissolution of the Kurdish parliament, the presidential office reported on its website.
"Our experience needs development and I want to see all the sides engaged in developing Kurdish entity," he told a meeting with senior parliament and governmental officials in Salahaddin town in Erbil.
Barzani said all people in the Kurdish region were free how they wanted to think, however, the freedom must comply with the laws.
People are free to demand the reformation of the government but not parliament as the latter would end everything, he stressed.
"When it comes to corruption, we should be informed where exactly it occurs so that relevant authorities could fight it," Barzani added.
Also in the meeting, Barzani suggested forming a committee to follow up reported cases of corruption.
Two years from now, people will vote again for parliament and government and "we should all surrender to the people's decision," he said.
The participants of the meeting suggested the establishment of integrity foundation in Kurdistan and a more strict supervision of finance.
The website reports that the meeting also focused on the fact that each proper side should report to the presidency office about what needs to be done and suggested more meetings alike to follow up recommendations.
The major opposition group, Goran, hopes to prepare the Kurdish public for a general uprising, taking the recent revolts in Arab world as its example. In a declaration issued a week ago, the group condenses its demands in seven points, including a general public uprising and abolishing the current Kurdish parliament.
Goran is led by a former PUK leader, Nawshirwan Mustafa. The internal issues within the PUK gave birth to Goran in 2009. The new movement seemed to have gathered wide support in a short time by obtaining 25 seats in Kurdish parliament and eight in the Iraqi.
