MENAFN - Sep 15 2011

MENAFN) An Iraq's North Oil Co. official said that for the first time since the beginning of September, oil exports from Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdish region recommenced, at a rate of 75,000 barrels per day, reported Gulf News.

The official added that oil exports from the region were stopped due to technical difficulties and authorities were working to bring back exports to their previous level of 150,000 barrels a day.

He also said that Iraq was unlikely to increase crude output by 2013 due to the dispute between Baghdad's government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, in addition to the insufficient storage and that other facilities needed to handle additional oil volumes.

It is worth noting that the Kurdistan Regional Government and Baghdad's central government have been in disputes over revenue from the sale of oil pumped from Kurdish oilfields, which affected oil investments in the region.
