Soldiers flee to Canada to avoid Iraq duty
Hundreds of deserters from the US armed forces have crossed into Canada and are now seeking political refugee status there, arguing that violations of the rules of war in Iraq by the US entitle them to asylum.

Keep 'em.....have no use for deserters. Especially during a time of war. If they come back ........ Leavenworth has some safe and cozy bunks

I fled to North Korea. They are treating me very nice here! I'm living in a palace with North Korean women feeding me grapes. I think I'll be OK, as long as I can keep avoiding their meetings.

I really wanted to not comment on this one but personally feel fleeing your duties and responsibilities are wrong. Our military is volunteer and that is disclosed up front in recruiting adn MEPS. You are signing your signature guaranteeing your service. What does that say about ethics and the worth of a persons word? I did not agree with many things that I did while active but I fulfilled my contract with the U.S. and completed my time.

Unfortunately...in todays world, some peoples word isn't worth a lot anymore.

Funny you should mention that. I'm working at Leavenworth (no I'm not an inmate!) for the next three weeks!
They signed on the line and they must follow orders. A deal is a deal..... I held up MY end of the bargain, they should too!
