What trading platfor do you use?

I'm thinking about dabbling with some money in the stock market - looking for a good online based trading platform that doesnt cost too much and lets you start off with a low ballence (Looking for $500 if possible - MAY go $1,000) Any input from you guys would be appreciated. Thanks!

Scottrade is my favorite and they have actual physical offices,even one just a few miles from my home,unlike Ameritrade and Etrade with which I also have accounts with but seldom use.They also only charge $7 for a market order and $12 for stop/limit orders.
If you are only investing $500-$1000 I would recommend investing in a CD or money market.For such a small amount it probably wouldn't be worth trading stocks.But if you want to get your feet wet,don't try daytrading and just invest the entire amount in one stock like IVAN in oil or DROOY or GBN in gold mining and hold them.They are $2-$3 a share and you can get several hundred shares.

I use Ameritrade. No software needed. Its works for me because I'm always on the go and itspretty easy to use. I wouldnt recomend them for day trading. Alot of my friends use E trade and are pretty happy with it. Just see what all of them have to offer. I'm not a heavy trader though I do DD and go long for the most part.

Thank you all for your suggestions - after looking around I decided that tradingdriect looked simple enough for me and required the least amount of hassle to set up (I AM overseas and faxing stuf is a PAIN lol) Thanks to all!
