Jaafari to agree to step down immediately. Just heard it on the half hour Fox news update (9:30 AZ time). Can't verify it on Google but will check the Fox website. Maybe the old Munny man finally got to break a story here???;)

Checked the Fox website and everywhere else I could think of. The next Fox news update is at the top of the hour 6 minutes from now. I'll be there and listen carefully. If this is true surely they will report it again.

Hmmm ... I thought they said he was refusing to step down and that the people should vote on it??? Course, I was laying on the couch with eyes half open .... :drunk:

You might be right, Ret. I thought they said he was willing to step down immediately. The next update was actually 10 minute after the top of the hour and no mention. Also all the news reports I've dug up have him staying on. My bad, if a mod wants to delete this thread go for it. Sorry.:(

I'm going to keep this open and cross my fingers that you are right. Maybe something will show up. :huge:

I'll dream positive dreams, Munny.

I will not be forced out by US and UK, says Iraqi PM
Iraq's embattled prime minister has defiantly refused to give up his claim to head the country's next government in spite of strong American and British pleas for an end to a deadlock which has paralysed the country for almost four months.

I'm hoping Munny's news is more accurate.......

Hope you guys are right and this investment of ours will come out of hibernation. If you check on oanda, its rate is up slightly for past many days, of course, its the ask price but it at least shows some optimism.

Cheers

I forgot to mention that I, too, was listening to Fox News when I posted last night. Didn't find anything on their site but I found this. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060405/wl_nm/iraq_jaafari_dc_4

LONDON (Reuters) - Iraq's interim Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari has rejected growing pressure on him to resign, saying Iraqis must be left to choose their leader democratically.

(Pretty much what I thought they were saying last night.)

Those of you who want him to step down do not know what Democracy is. At the most, there should be a vote on it...at the MOST! Corrupting Iraqs new found Democracy so early in its infancy could have devistating effects down the line. Everyone just needs to get their head out of their wallets for a minute.

I believe you ment to say: If this guy CAN'T move the Country forward, the Country shall move him. I'm fine with that, as long as it's done legally...by a 2/3 majority in parlament.

I agree it should be done legally. They should've voted on this a long time ago. I think the Shiites know Jaafari won't get a 2/3 majority vote so they're either delaying the vote to try to win over support or to save face. Either way their government is stagnant. If Jaafari cared more about his country than his own desire to be PM he would step aside and let someone who could win take his spot and get their country moving forward. Jaafari could run for election in the future but right now they need to get things moving and he's standing in the way of this. Vote or step aside. If Jaafari doesn't have the votes by now he never will.

I do agree he is doing this for his own self interest. All those perks he is going to lose. Come on!

I completely disagree with your train of thought. Yes, eveyone here has a vested interest in Iraq succeeding. The difference is this, more and more innocents are dying because these idiots can't get their act together. It in my opinion has nothing to do with WALLETS as you so elequently put it. It has to do with security and safety. If one man can step down in order to quell the majority uprising and safety problems then it is his duty to do so in order to protect Iraq. As of right now Iraq needs a LEADer not someone who creates turmoil, which is what Jaafari is doing. He reminds me of Jimmy Carter, his term sucks and when he finishes he'll be bashing every subsequent president in order to somehow change the record on his own term. "when Iraq stands up, we(American Military) will stand down" I hope Jaafari saw this because in order for Iraqi parliament to stand up he needs to be a patriot of Iraq and stand down.

CDI agree with most of your statement. Exception is that it is not a majority uprising. It is a very small minority of left over Saddamists and foreign terrorists. However, the majority are getting fed up with the killing and are beginning to participate in the securing of their country and cities. Very very good movement.

Complete agreement. Security and safety will benefit all Americans and all Dinar holders. Jafaari should stand up and remove himself , or be removed by the Iraq goverment and only the Iraq government. You can't give a country freedom and then tell them who that can and can't have running the show. Hopefully they will figure it out, and sooner rather than later.
