A source facilities for the Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani, the latter called for a convergence of European with the Kurdistan region to support its direction towards building a democratic and hormesis structure of economic, as well as participate in the consolidation of the foundations of the political process and democracy in Iraq at some point after the American withdrawal, and called in this context, the Belgian foreign to restore its embassy from Amman to Baghdad, and to work to open the Belgian consulate in the Kurdish region to strengthen economic and cultural cooperation between Belgium and Iraqi Kurdistan.
This came during a meeting with Kurdish leader Massoud Barzani, president of the Kurdistan region with Belgian Foreign Minister Stephen Vanakeree to discuss developments in the political and security situation in Iraq and Kurdistan, and ways to strengthen the European-Kurdish relations towards the support of the democratic process in Iraq.
For his part, Belgian Foreign Minister that he is following developments in the political and security stability in Kurdistan, and the Belgian government supports the efforts of the leadership of the region in improving the social situation through the issuance of a lot of decisions about family planning and the fight against domestic violence and to achieve independence of the judiciary in Kurdistan, stressing the readiness of Belgium to carry out joint ventures in the political, economic, social and cultural ties with the region in order to build a better future for the citizens of the Kurdistan region.
