Iraqi Says He Plans to Convene Parliament
The acting speaker of Parliament announced Wednesday that he would convene the legislature next Monday, even though the formation of the new government remained stalled as Shiite leaders continued to deliberate whether to stick with their choice for prime minister.
"The people are really fed up with all these maneuvers and just want to see an end to it," Kamran Karadaghi, chief of staff to President Jalal Talabani, a Kurd, said in an interview. "There's a lot of pressure on everybody. People in the street are really making fun of the politicians."
