Said the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq on Thursday, 12.1, that the agreement with Exxon Mobil to develop the six areas of exploration going forward do not face obstacles.
Said Ashti Hawrami, Minister of Natural Resources in the government of the province in an interview with Reuters, also said that the Kurdistan Regional Government is in talks with other oil companies and expects to reach similar agreements in the next few months.
He added that the provincial government has proposed amendments to the draft oil law, which is long overdue and that it is now scheduled to be referred to the parliament in Baghdad.
Hawrami said that it expected to reach the oil production in the Kurdistan region of 175 thousand barrels per day in 2012 and that up to one million barrels per day in 2015.
The minister said that the government is about to sign a contract with Genel Energy to establish a pipeline at a cost of $400 million to connect the Taq Taq oil field, its Iraqi export pipeline connecting to the Turkish port of Ceyhan on the Mediterranean coast.
