BAGHDAD (Reuters) -
Iraq's new government risks being held to ransom by a dissident Shi'ite faction using its local clout in Basra to hobble vital oil exports, Iraqi officials and senior political sources said on Friday.
They warned that the locally powerful Fadhila party was threatening to have members in the oil industry stage a go-slow to halt exports through the key southern oil port if it did not win the concessions it wanted from Baghdad.

I hope PM MALIKI sets the tone early! Thru dialogue!

We have all seen just how swift and concise conclusions are drawn when dialogue is used, look at the timelint and what it has gotten us so far. I agree with Meal and think Maliki needs to show he can deal with issues swiftly to keep the people of Iraq behind him. Obviously the unified government is not unified and if issues raised now in its infancy are not dealt with it will never become unified in my opinion.

Damn these political and religious factions!! Nothing but trouble, I seriously feel the new government definitly needs to set a firm tone as mentioned by Mealticket, there has to be a way to cool down the fire, Im in favor of eliminating their existance, I think one of the best ways to destroy insurgents is by offering rewards for successfully destroying terrorist plots, thus it would reduce the bloodshed of innocent lives and create a phobia amoungst those who want to cause trouble, thats just my take. =)

That would definitely be one positive way to reward any who are currently unemployed and in effect give them a job as a bounty hunter of sorts hunting for terrorists. Similar to the Domino effect. I like it!
