Iraq, hopes Maliki's broad coalition of majority Shi'ites and minority Sunnis and Kurds will be able to defuse relentless violence.
Key to that will be the naming of non-sectarian interior and defence ministers who can quell communal and insurgent attacks. They said the Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution in Iraq threatened to reject Araji for the interior portfolio, a move which could split the bloc, to which Maliki belongs.
Some members of the Shi'ite Alliance said a deal could still be struck later in the day. But even so, there are no guarantees any candidates will be able to stabilise the country. http://www.smh.com.au/news/World/Parliament-deadlock-spurs-Iraq-violence/2006/06/04/1149359592651.html

“But you have a functioning government in Fallujah now,” he said. “A city council, mayor, police chief, two hospitals.
“You still have foreign fighters,” he said, which include al-Qaida and others in the mujahideen who come from Syria, Saudi Arabia and elsewhere.
Also, as Marines in Charlie Company will attest, the city has something akin to gangs, which are not trained but paid to go out and fire at Marines on patrol. Men with Charlie Company have seen more than one child or teenager throw a grenade at them.
“Last time we were here,” Oliva said, “(the insurgents) were fighting to prove manhood. I don't think that's the case now. Now it's more economic, for the money.” http://www.theday.com/re.aspx?re=540b239c-5e1f-4dd3-9a08-10ca3d3be1e3

Its quite clear that they dont actually want to be part of a unified country.

I dont beleive their government is much more than a stage show to keep america happy.

Maybe it could turn out to be another checaslovakia? (lol spelling?)

The new world order has got some serious work to do here to unify iraq before the GCC forms up under 1 currency.

A minor setback, they will overcome this....anyone recall how long it took thirteen colonies to set up a fuctioning government?

Agreed, come to far to throw it all away. With Maliki in charge he will get things done. The world is waiting for them to totally formulate their government and get back onto the world stage. :D

"...the Iraqi television quoted MP Hassan Al-Sanid saying that the Premier, Al-Maleki received positive indicators from the parliamentary blocs over the names of the interior and defense ministers.

Al-Sanid said that Al-Maleki won the approval of the blocs over the appointment of Farouk Al-Aaraji as Interior Minister and Abdulqader Al-Obeidi as Defense Minister."

Looks like we are all waiting for some news on this. 2 days since the suspension and no news can be found on the internet in relation to whether parliament sessions will be resumed. Does anyone know any more on this?

Not enough members were attending to be able to cast the vote and present the names for the vote. He said they would do it at the next meeting which he did not state what day or time. I think it will happen.

I did not see where it stated when the next session would be when I read the story earlier. I could not get either link to open. Does anyone have that information. I think the release could be a good political move to rally support for his new members he wants to present and this could work heavily in his favor.
