Al-Warkaa Bank buys Iraqi bonds with U.S. investor support

Shows all of our investment into the economy and with Warka is paying off... Now Warka can reinvest our money into stabliziing the overall economy of Iraq...

I think this is another positive sign of progress and ultimate prosperity for the Iraqis and for us, dinar holders :happy64:

Actually yes. I'm sure if the CPA knew that Warka was letting anyone get a bank account over the internet they would stop that quick. From the bad guys point of view it would prove to be the perfect palce for money laundering esp. amongst terrorist organizations.

When I spoke with Talal regional manager for Foriegn accounts of NBK, he said that security is a BIG issue, which if you wanted an account with CREDIT BANK you would have to not only be there in person, but you would have to have a valid reason for opening the account i.e. payroll or something buisness related registered with the ministry of finance.

When I thought about it, he was right. I couldnt name ONE bank that didnt require me to be there in person to open an account with the exception of on line accounts like ING bank. A real bank would require you to be there for security reasons. So personally I think Warka is doing us a favor for letting us do this now over the internet. I'm pretty sure in the future no one will be able to open an account without being there simply because of the security issue.

Just my 2 cents

In your opinion do you think they would cancel all the foreign accounts, or would they just stop them from creating any new ones??

I dont think they would voide our accounts no... I think they would not allow accounts to be open without the customer actually being there. Alot of americans in Iraq have accounts there to include contractors. Buina is the Chairman of the Board for a counsel of private banks in Iraq. He definatly would not want bad publicity.
