Shahristani said in a speech at the opening of Qudos gas station in Baghdad, attended by "Shafaq News", that “we will open stations across the country and I do not say every month but two or three stations will be opened.”
Shahristani said that "the Ministry of Electricity and the Oil Ministry and all state institutions and companies and its efforts are working to complete these projects cannot give results without the cooperation of the citizens", calling for commitment to rationalize consumption of electrical energy.

Iraq suffers from a shortage of electricity since the beginning of 1990, and increased power rationing hours after 2003 in Baghdad and the provinces, because of the old ​​ stations in addition to the sabotage of facilities over the past years.
