This happened many moons ago but you should be able to approach one of these banks when you cash in this month.

Other members of the winning consortium that includes 13 banks from 14 countries are Australia and New Zealand Banking Group, Standard Chartered, Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, Bank Millennium, Royal Bank of Canada, Credit Lyonnais, and others.

Here is something else that a lot of people are overlooking. Right now everyone is scrambling looking for a bank to cash their Dinars in. One of the stupidest ideas yet, was the guy who was going to take his dinars to the airport.
You folks are overlooking the brokerage houses. No matter where you live in the continental US, you have acccess to a Merril Lynch, JP Morgan, Chase, etc. Everyone of these offers wealth management and foreign banking. All one needs to do is pick up the phone and contact one of these.
I recently spoke with a wealth management advisor at Goldman Sachs who told me that when the time comes, you can bring in all your Dinars, and a wealth management program can be implemented for you. They also have access to all the tax advice you would need.
The all have websites and 1-800 numbers.
It's worth a shot rather than planning air trips to Aman, or Kuwait City, or Bagdhad for that matter.
Don't forget, Merrill Lynch and T.Rowe Price are among the Wall St. Houses that recently began buying Iraqi Bond issues.

Just a thought.

If Iraq has never had a fully Internationally traded currency, what makes you all think when it rv if it ever does will have one.

Because at that time under Saddam, Iraq was basically a closed society.

Now, they are "Free". ( if that's what you wanna call it,....)

US State Dept. says differently.

The currency of Iraq is the Dinar (ID - sometimes referred to as the New Iraqi Dinar). Iraq's current exchange system is characterized as a free foreign exchange system, with no restrictions on purchases or sales of foreign currencies. The Iraqi currency is fully convertible and can be exchanged freely with any other currency. In addition, there is free movement of capital without restrictions on capital inflows and outflows. Iraq's foreign exchange regime is also a multi-currency system in which foreign currencies circulate in the market and are accessible to everyone.
