Iraqi parliament to vote on draft investment law on October 12

Baghdad, Oct 4, (VOI) – Iraqi parliament 42nd session was adjourned to Thursday after delaying a vote on a draft investment law till October 12.
The parliament in its 42nd session "discussed a draft investment law while a vote on the draft will take place on October 12," said Parliament speaker deputy Khalid al-'Atiah.
Thursday's session is scheduled to continue a discussion of the draft investment law and a draft provinces law, he added.

Great news, they ussually only vote on things when they know they have enough votes to pass. So there must be some fine tuning adjustments going on to make sure everyone is happy. Great to hear this is moving along.

it was pushed back to Oct 12 th so lets hope this is it :)

I have been away from some months but it looks like things are still moving ahead. Even if it's not fast some movement or progession is great for me.

That should be about right for the November 8th elections here. If we can show serious progress in Iraq before then, republicans will maintain control. It is another cheap political stunt, just the type we need. Lance

Lance, I must say that I agree with this assumption. It would be a great strategic move for the republican party since it has been deemed that they will not fair well atl all in this next upcoming election.

It is very encouraging that a date has been announced for passing the FIL. Up to this point it has been much more vague. So it does seem they are getting close. It would be great if they could get the ISX on-line trading going this year as well, but they are now saying next summer, unless tis is some type of smoke screen. Time will tell.
