Asaad Ismail Al-Salhi, the head of Saadiya municipal council in Diyala told "Shafaq News" that "the low level of Diyalas’ River is threatening approximately 6500 acres of farmland by drought”.
He added that "70% of the people of Diyala depend on agriculture in their lives”.
Wheat and barley harvest are being cultivated during this period of the year, which is the most important stage of agriculture in winter.
Most people in Diyala depend on agriculture for lack of other resources in the province in light of deteriorating service and the collapse of the infrastructure over the past decades.
