With his salary I doubt there would be any takers anyway.

The Cubs have the money to spend - it comes down to what is the teams biggest piece of the puzzle.

The Yanks had a potent offense but inconsistent pitching (except Wang). They should trade a few bats for some arms.... but A-Rod won't be one of them.

I'm a Red Sox fan, I hope the yankees keep him, A rod does not help his team like his salary would suggest...

Salary would not be an issue in a trade. Texas is paying a major part of his salary now. They picked up $67 million of the $179 million left on his contract when he was traded. The Yankees are paying something in the vicinity of $16 million of his 25 million/year. It may sound steep, but players of his caliber are getting that kind of money.

For all his faults, he's still young enough to merit that kind of payola. He needs out of New York badly, but there is no question that he has performed there and could still be a vital member of that lineup. He needs to come out hitting next year if he wants to limit the fan reaction. A slump in April and the booing could snowball into a very ugly season, especially since his psyche seems to be so fragile.

I think the Yankees would do themselves (and A-Rod) a favor in trading him, but they would need to get a proven stud pitcher or some stud prospects. If not, it's really not worth it. Players at his age simply don't lose it unless they truly fall apart psychologically.

There are very few players that have dominated the game the way he has when you combine both his offense and his defense. Whether in New York or elsewhere, one should expect him to come out and prove his worth and that would spell bad news for pitchers.
