I don't know about everyone else, but It has been dificult for me to find info on certain companies over the internet. For this reason, I decided to start this thread in hopes of having a central location to aid us in building and maintaining our portfolios. Once I organize my info I'll post it. All information that I recieve from the banks tommorow will be posted as well.

O/K I'll volunteer >"<
I use a "copernic" search engine. I believe that you'all probably don't have that one.
I would need the exact legal names of companies to research.
And I'll see what I can find >"<

I saw Cavuto interviewing a guy named Jim Rogers today. This guy was highly recommending investments in Iraqi companies. He also predicted that Iraq would be one of the richest per capita countries in the world. I really need to get some money over to my Warka account!!! :happy64:

Having an account now with Warka or another bank will put you in the position for the rock bottom pricing to purchase the companies when we are able to trade on the ISX ..

In the mean time we are recieving interest on the IQD and US dollar deposits ..not alot,,, but interest just the same ..

It is very encouraging to hear mainstream medias suporting investment in IRAQ..
Most of us already believed in Iraq and the tenasity of the Iraqi People to achieve independence..and finiacial freedom ... :happy64:

Seems like we are on a good path .... :drunk:

I look forward to any input and info about which companies would be the best
bets for us to invest in. Maybe it could be divided up into different sectors sort of like a US model for comparing companies with the strengths and weaknesses of the top picks. Any thoughts? :happy64:

I have yet to recieve any info yet. Hassam has tried 2 or 3 times to get to the bank. The roads have been blocked every time he's tried. Today he is going to try again. Once i recieve any info I'll have him translate it then post.

This was put together by the Ministry of Industry & Minerals.

State Owned Enterprise Profiles: 45 of the Largest Companies in Iraq

http://www.cpa-iraq.org/business/industries/index.html

These are downloadable spreadsheets containing general info, company highlights, facilities, products, customers, suppliers, imports/exports, competition, summary of war damage, and notes for improvement. Some even including a freemarket outlook. I found them very usefull in determining future IPO investments. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

Maybe this has been asked before..Why is Warka not listed in the bulletins from the ISX?

Because the Daily Bulletins only reflect what was activly traded that day. If Warka or any other company is not listed on taht day then no shares were traded.

Hey JHawk,

I could not find any information that Jim Rodgers made these statements. I pulled up Cavuto's transcripts from the past week's shows and nothing showed up. If you could provide me with that link I would apreciate it.

These are the 2 links I found:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,139267,00.html

Jim Rogers statements are closer to the end of the page. This one was directly relating to Iraq.

and this one is from the 20th's show...nothing at all about Iraq that I could find http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,105148,00.html

I even e-mailed Mr Rodgers investing in Dinars and his reply was.

"Not me. I would never invest in Iraqi dinars myself. Someone is trying to sell something."

jim@jimrogers.com

So I am in question and need your help.

Joe

Rogers appeared on the 11/19 show with Neil Cavuto.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,139254,00.html

The only info I can find is from an anti-Fox blog

Fox aired a segment today (November 19, 2004) on Your World w/Neil Cavuto about the Iraqi stock market. Cavuto's guest was Jim Rogers, President of Jim Rogers.com. Mr. Rogers insisted Iraq wouldn't be on his list of countries in which to invest as he isn't convinced "this is going to work out," he doesn't "think the country's going to survive," he thinks it'll "probably split up into two or three countries" and that the currency won't be sound. However, he said that Iraqi citizens who invest in their market could become very, very rich or at the least, "own a piece of their country."

I watched the interview and he did in fact say that he wanted nothing to do with investing in Iraq. He did say that if for the slight chance that things go well then people that did invest in Iraq would be very rich, but he reiterated that he did not think that would ever happen.

I saw that interview and Mr. Rogers did say exactly what he reiterated in the response to Dark Ring's second email. He also, by the way, said he had "money" in Iran, but was currently trying his best to get it out. Good Luck....Iran has never been friendly to US investors. I suppose he's probably gun-shy about Iraq (if you'll excuse the pun) due to his experience with investments in Iran!

Rogers is also a die hard left wing type so his personal bias against the war could be strongly influencing his opinion. Not to mention his more public partner Soros lost 2 billion on tech stocks in the clinton recession. Soros is one of the primary causes of anti semitism in maylaysia and eastern europe after he crushed out their currencies as well as the billion he made when he broke the bank of england.

For those planning on trading stock I'd highly reccommend Covel's book Trend Following as well as the Van Tharp books. As Ed Seykota says "If I can tape a chart to the wall and see it trending from the other side of the room I'll buy it." or something like that. :) He is btw quite probably the greatest trader EVER but is virtually unknown because he does only select investors but the one client account he made public started with 5k and 12 years later was worth 15 million and that was with the client taking money out over the years! And if your wondering he wouldn't answer a question on iraq most likely, he is a very deep fellow if you read his postings on his website.

I watch him every week on Cavuto and I never thought of him as a liberal. Why do you think he is?

From his interview in Market Wizards. A friend of mine has it or I could quote from it. And his general long term association with the maniac Soros.

I also saw the interview with Jim Rodgers on Neil Cavuto and this is what i saw---
He was said he would not invest in Iraq money because he had money tied up in Iran and unable to make any profits off of it, he did go on to say that Iraq has extreme economic wealth possibilities but that he thought the country would split and fight and at the end of the conversation he stated that "if the Iraqis ever came together as a people each person in Iraq would be very, very, very rich." (when he made the last statement he was smiling cheek to cheek.)
Looking at the government of Iran one would not expect monetary gain from such radicals running the country. I think the Iraq situation with a new democratic government will make all the difference in the world. And before its all said and done i bet he will end up investing when things get some sense of normalicy.
