im thinking about moving out to singapore once the reval hits to avoid the UK taxes. whats the capital gains tax % over there?

Hi J2theM,
Singapore is a brilliant city state, I have been there many times my ex coming from Phillipines & sometimes we used to stop off en route.
I don't know what CGT is over there but I'm off to Cyprus because I'll keep my main investment offshore & only use some of the interest to top up my cypriot account. In Cyprus an ex-pat only pays 5% tax on any money brought into the country from offshore pensions or accounts, not CGT on the amount invested mind you, only the amount that you actually transfer into Cyprus.
Also, there is no Inheritance Tax at all in Cyprus because a citizen took the Cypriot Government to court over this subject several years ago. He insisted that his parents had paid tax all their lives & did not see why he had to pay tax again on their property & savings after they had died. The Court upheld his case &, because in Cyprus whatever the main Court decides then the Government abide by it, the law was changed. Can you imagine that ever happening here in the UK; if the High Court ruled that Inheritance Tax was illegal & instructed the Government to rescind it, do you think that Blair & Brown would ever do it? Of course they would --------NOT! Pigs will fly & they would totally ignore what the High Court & the populace wanted & tell us to go to hell as it's their tax & they're keeping it to screw more money out of us.
Anyway, let's cross all our little appendages hoping for a big one very soon; like in about a weeks time.

yes singapore is great. my brother has lived there for 10years and i stayed with him for a month last year. if the reval comes and ive got a large profit ill ask him to look into it for me.
