View Full Version : The Salute
:rolleye03 Hopefully we can be a little more political in this forum, eh?
My opinion, as a biased veteran, is Kerrys' salute will turn off the majority of swing voters and Vets. They over played the 'Nam card so badly, then the "salute" to open?!?
To me it is so obvious they know they are on the wrong side of the war on terror, and desperately trying to make up ground. How weak? If this election is within 4 points I will be shocked. It is Dole vs. Clinton all over again. A terrible candidate who has paid his dues, thus is being offered as the sacrificial lamb while looking forward to the next election.
Curious to know if I am the "Lone Ranger" in my observation......... :)
PS- I'm conservative- but Dole sucked! :rolleye03

I didn't see/notice the salute. I was late for work, but I wanted to hear a little of his speech. I waited and waited for him to make his way to the podium... waving, hugging the vets, hugging the guy in the wheelchair :rolleye03
I got in the car to go to work and turned on Mike Savage - anyone ever listen to the Savage Nation? I don't agree with alot of what the guy says, and how mean he can be to people, but he cracks me the heck up!!! I'm a huge Laura Ingram fan.
I'm a conservative too - but I wasn't a Dole fan (for president) either. I would have been more likely to vote for Elizabeth. lol Bob Dole has that Viagra gig now so it's all good. LOL

The only debate in the quote is the definition of old....I would say, after you begin earning enough income to offset the emotions of youth.
my only problem with the salute was that it was a pitiful attempt at a salute. limp-wristed saluted like that earn you push-ups where i am from.

For a party so fervantly anti-war....they sure ate up John Forbes Heinz Kerry's war intro. You want to talk about hypocrites...I paint the whole Democrat party with one brush as such. Just who are the Democrats anyway? (p.s. I know the answer.)

Are you in Missouri RET? I watched it on FNC - it was very stirring!
Yup! Good 'ole Show Me State!
WHAT A SPEECH! Huge crowd, several thousand couldn't get in due to time and security. It was in a ball stadium that holds around 10,000! Quite an exciting experience! Several speakers (gov. officials) spoke with excellent speeches. One quote that got quite a bit of laughter was the topic of Democratic National Convention . . . " You the DNC Reality Show: Extreme Makeover?" . . .
My favorite was about our candidate wearing boots. . . and his opponent wearing FLIP FLOPS! That was hilarious!
Our president's speech was excellent. He spoke on several topics. He got a huge ovation when talking about our great military and their sacrifices. Another was about FAMILIES. I could go on and on. It was an experience I'll never forget!
I think the campaign slogan will be: "We're turning a corner and we're not looking back." He said that several times.
Very patriotic . . . great speeches, great crowd, good choice of music, etc.. . . couldn't have been any better! Well, if Laura was there, that would have been the icing on the cake. What a classy First Lady! I think his exact word describing Laura as the First Lady was FINE!
EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT!

ChevronTexaco's Second-Quarter Profit Rises
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: July 30, 2004
Filed at 8:56 p.m. ET
SAN RAMON, Calif. (AP) -- ChevronTexaco Corp.'s second-quarter profit more than doubled as high energy prices extended a recent roll that is shaping into the most prosperous stretch in the oil giant's 125-year history.
The San Ramon-based company said Friday that it earned $4.13 billion, or $3.88 per share, for the three months ended in June compared with $1.6 billion, or $1.50 per share, a year earlier. It represented the largest three-month profit that the company has recorded since its formation in 1879.

Why should they? Invariably, they're proven to be wrong. Leftists such as Michael Isikof, Christopher Hitchens, and Ed Koch, have pretty much proven that Michael Moore's movie is a pack of lies. Does anyone really believe Iraq was all sunshine and kite-flying with Saddam in power?
He even had to manipulate a headline of a pro-Gore newspaper to try to "prove" Al Gore won the 2000 election when every single survey done after the elections proved that Bush won Florida under every recount scenario but one, that being double-punched ballots all went to Gore (that scenario is not done in any precinct in the entire country since there's no way to prove intent), including double-punched Bush-Gore ballots. And even then, Gore would only win by 51 votes. Don't forget that Democratic operative Bob Beckel determined that Bush lost between 10,000-15,000 votes in the Panhandle because of the networks' erroneous call on Florida before the polls closed.
The 9/11 Commission and Richard Clarke exploded his conspiracy theory that the bin Laden family was permitted to leave with White House approval without questioning by the FBI. Clarke complained that Moore knew the real story that HE personally approved the flights without informing any higher-ups AFTER the FBI had interviewed everyone they wanted to and AFTER the flight bans had been revoked but chose to put a false story in his movie.
All those things about Carlyle Group and the Saudi royal family and the pipeline in Afghanistan pursued by Shell Oil were proven to be false because neither H.W. nor W Bush worked for them when any of those situations occurred.
Other detractors, i.e. liars, such as Joe Wilson and Richard Clarke, have been discredited, Clarke with his own previous words which directly contradicted what he said in his book and in his public testimony, and Wilson by the Senate Intelligence Committee and the Butler Commission in the UK (the claim of Iraq trying to obtain yellow cake uranium from Africa was "well founded"). Even Kerry, behind the scenes, rerouted Wilson's Kerry-funded website to point to his own and without fanfare removed Wilson's name from the list of his advisors.
As for Bush lying about the faulty intelligence, the Senate Intelligence Committee exonerated him on that score. Personally, I don't think the intelligence was faulty because we have discovered at least 35 WMD's and UNMOVIC believes the weapons were moved to Syria and other parts of Europe and the Middle East after discovery of weapons parts in the Netherlands and Jordan, plus numerous satellite photographs of vehicles allegedly carrying the WMD's to Syria. Out-of-date would be more like it than faulty since all that was done in the run-up to war during the 14 months we spent wasting our time at the UN. Anyone think 14 months is "rushing to war?"
Any other silly conspiracy theories I haven't debunked yet? There are so many out there that Oliver Stone would have a field day. But the new king of conspiracy theories is Michael Moore. If he wins an Academy Award for best documentary, when it should be best propaganda since a documentary has to be based on truth, I'll personally boycott all future viewing of those awards from now on. Yeah, I know, big deal.
I would be worrying more about Kerry's association with the liar, Joe Wilson, and Sandy Burglar, uh-hem, Berger. The newspapers went from calling Berger a key player on Kerry's foreign policy team to an informal advisor.
Neither side is perfect, but I'll tell you . . . I'd be very fearful of all that can happen if Kerry & Edwards take office! Don't EVEN get me started on that!

All the pay records did was show that he was not where he said he wouldn't be. The article is fatally flawed because it takes for granted that Bush did not serve in Alabama, which is utter nonsense.
A few months ago, the White House produced dental records to show that he *DID* serve his duty in Alabama. There were at least two of his fellow aviators who swore he was there. What did the Democrats have to say about it?
"All that proved was that his teeth were there."

When one is on military duty somewhere, a whole lot of paperwork follows you. there is evaluation reports filed once a year at the very least. and when some ones tour of duty is over they are given an award. even the biggest rag bags get an award when departing a unit. what also follows is your medical records. while no one denies that Bush was ever in the national guard ( for a champagne unit *), they are saying that they cant prove that he did any time in Alabama since there is no records there except his dental records, which probably followed him from the texas national guard.
TT
* a champagne unit was a unit that the sons of prominent politicians were assigned to so that they would not have to serve in Vietnam. Instead they had the much more honorable duty of Defending the gulf of mexico.

And their proof of this being a dirty trick is...?
Seems arresting this guy wouldn't change anybody's vote since the vast majority would say, "Who?"
The only HVT that would matter would be al-Zarqawi, al-Zawahiri, or bin Laden. Anyone else would get a collective yawn even among the president's supporters no matter how important this guy seems to be in reality.
That's one of the serious problems with the Democratic Party. Arrest anyone important and it's met with, "it's just to make Bush look good." That's what they said about arresting Saddam. If and when we catch bin Laden, they'll say exactly the same thing. They can't believe anyone would actually be interested in protecting this country without political calculation.
When Saddam was arrested, while most of the country was celebrating, the Democrats were making the circuit of the talk shows saying it didn't matter and that the timing was suspicious, not that it was a good thing we caught him.
