Under U.N. Security Council Resolution 1483, Iraq's oil export earnings are immune from legal proceedings, such as debt collection, until the end of 2007.
what dose this mean Iraq will go to court?

Imagine that! I have a strong feeling that every time some idiot blows a pipeline-they will get it going asap. I am not really as concerned as some members were when production was cut. :)
They know what to do, nobody is going to stop them either!

The Iraqi's are industrious and we have the best support in the free world there to help them out.

I have a question and would appreciate anyone with some knowledge to respond. I have friends who are purchasing the new dinars and was wondering how they can sell them when or if they go up in price. Thank you for any information you may have concerning this.

I took a look at this story that has encouraging information about Iraqi oil exports. It says that southern fields have resumed their 2 million bpd exports, plus 450,000 from Kirkuk, shut down since May.

That adds up to 2.45 million bpd! I thought they were struggling to get back to 1.8 million bpd. If that's true, their exports have just boomed. More hard currency for Iraq means a stronger dinar!

And the northern fields are only at half capacity. Full capacity would mean 2.9 million bpd! Hope they get that part running soon.

I have called several banks in my area and they said that even after the dinars are put on the market that the banks will not conduct a foreign currency exchange on them. Does anyone know where the dinars can be exchanged for US dollars? My email address is mamerican51@aol.com Thank you

Saintsfan.....I don't know which banks you called. But I believe that it is a general concensous that when the Dinar goes on the world market, you will at least be able to use the BIG banks (wells fargo, bank of america, etc).

If you called local or small privately owned banks, I doubt they would be able to do it. Some small banks probably wouldnt even be able to exchange Euros if you walked in there with them.

Also, it depends on the person, customer service rep you speak with anytime you call a bank. You could call 50 different times an probably get a different answer if you got a different person each time.

Trust this....if and when it goes on the world market....you WILL be able to exchange it.

Hope this helped a little :happy64:

It may be a valid threat. It may also be beyond his scope. I don't think the Iraqis will be sitting around allowing his operatives to have a free run.

Iraq south exports near full speed

Dubai

Iraq's southern oil exports continued to run near full capacity at about 1.9 million barrels per day (bpd) today, a shipping agent said.

Basra Oil Terminal, the country's primary export outlet, was loading Basra Light crude onto the tanker Ashna at a rate of 44,000 barrels per hour while the Front Granite was loading at 20,000 barrels per hour.

At the neighbouring Gulf terminal of Khor Al Amaya, the Bergina was loading at 14,000 barrels per hour, he said.

Iraq's northern oil pipeline resumed exports to Turkey at a rate of 200,000-250,000 bpd yesterday. The pipeline, which links Iraq's Kirkuk oilfields to the Turkish port of Ceyhan, had been out of action since a Sept 2 sabotage attack.-Reuters
