Baghdad, March 19, (VOI) - Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on Monday reviewed with U.S. President George W. Bush, during a telecom conference, the law-imposing security plan being implemented in Baghdad and the Iraqi government efforts within this context.
"The two asserted that the Iraqi government has to continue working in the political and reconstruction fields, in addition to its commitments to achieve the national reconciliation and peace in the country," al-Maliki's office said in a statement received by the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI).
"Bush appreciated the Iraqi government's efforts towards achieving these goals, asserting his support to Maliki's government," it added.
Iraqi and U.S. troops have been involved in a large-scale operation, since mid-February, in a bid to quell bombings and sectarian violence in the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
