Did The Dong and Dinar RV????

I know I am putting my butt on the line with this one, but I wanted everyone to see this for them self!!!! We need everyones input on this one!!! I am not saying it RV'd, nor am spreading a rumor. OK this is what I found here goes:

We have been hearing , really today, but I have heard of it for about a week now, that there is a possibility of the Dong RV. Also with all the news with the dinar, the potential of RV anytime IMO. With that said take a look at this!!!!

This site is saying that the dong is: 1USD=16VND Exchange Rate=.0625

DISCLAIMER 1: This was strange to me, so I went and converted every currency on there exchange, guess what I found all the exchange rates were accurate, except the Dong and the Dinar. Here are two examples below!!! Check for yourself, its all right there!!!!

OK almost done!!! I know this alot take in all at once, but something doesn't sound right!!! This is a major site, kind like the AP. They are located in the major financial Dist. in London!!!!! It would make since to RV both at the same time, so people don't double dip!!! Double dip is where you would take the profits from the dong, and purchase more dinar then hope for a RV. OK on that note let the posts began!!!

DISCLAIMER 2: This is not a rumor, it is speculation. This is info that I have found!!! Take a look for yourself and make a educated judgment for yourself, but in any way I am saying it did RV. BOA doesnt trade in the dinar, only the dong!!!!! They dont show an exchange rate!!! Here is what is says down below!!! BOA Started selling the dong two days ago. All orders that were placed yesterday, were cancelled. How do I know this, I placed several orders!!! There saying that they ran out, how does one of the largest banks that trade in foreign currency run out in a day????? BOA doesnt trade in currency that are not traded international thst why they dont trade in the dinar, that is what they told me!!!! Remember when Step. was on here, everybody got excited that the dinar was going to be traded by the BOA, but it never happened!!! But the dong is now!!!!

I checked with the Central Bank of Vietnam (or whatever name they have) and it states US$ 1= 16.119,00 [they use the "." like we use the comma in the USA when stating numbers]. It could be a mistake. However, I am not sure as they know the way to write numbers in the USA, so I doubt it is a mistake.

But the part of the IQD is even stranger. the currency converter quoted by DaRock states 1 USD = 1 IQD. It is right there. But, when you try to exchange IQD into USD it shows the exchange rate we know.

I am not sure what's going on, but in my opinion, something is definitely going on, people. I think that maybe, just maybe, the cat's out of the bag. Maybe this currency converter page in London has jumped ahead of time.

If you think your going to get rich overnight, your better off trying to pick the finishing order of 10 race horses in the same race. Your odds are better. Better yet your odds of betting all 10 would drop dead in the same race is has a better chance of winning than a huge double secret, super conspiracy RV.

XE.COM does not show this wacky rate for the dong or the dinar. Stop engaging in chickenheadcutoffery. Go to news.google.com and type "vietnamese dong revalue" - don't you think someone, somewhere in the world would post a story about a revalue this big the moment it happened? All I see is one article for those scam artists at Sebastian River Holdings saying they picked up some dong along with their dinar investment.

BOA probably underestimated the demand for dong and so they are sold out for now.

CBI has gone down from time to time. Everytime means an RV until it comes back up with the previous rate, which is usually thought to be a mistake. "What, they forgot to include the RV'ed rate!!??, ...what gives??!"

I remember one time when CBI went down the day after GWB made his suprise visit to Baghdad last summer, people on the chat room of another public forum were telling each other congrats on their new millionaire status and such.

CBI is the base price banks buy at. Banks do nto sell at the same rate or they would make no money. They sell more around the menafn.com rate, and are therefore obligued to buy back at something between that and the CBI rate. So if CBI sells for 1272 and menafn.com shows a market rate of 1212, banks would then buy back around the 1260 mark (assuming they buy back at all).

Please be aware that FOREX is considered closed from 4pm EST Friday (when banks close in EST) until banks open in Australia Monday morning (About 6PM est Sunday). You should not see rates change much if at all during that time and rates that you do see shouldn't be considered reliable... actually it depends on how their program reacts to the fact there is no live feed at those times and if the program read one too many times off a dead feed.


As for the dong reval to 6 cents... I'd poo myself not in excitement but in fear!!! It's too nice a number..... called a triple lop. Ow the pain.

But, I opened this thread and had to lend my experience. About two years ago I was putzin' around visiting several of the conversion sites, and found this very same thing. FX, XE, Saxo-if I reversed the currency codes from the standard: IQD to USD, it came up with 1:1 conversion-but USD to IQD came back at 1:1320(or whatever it was at that time).
Don't mean to be rainin' on anyone's parade, but been here, done this.
I do hope I'm wrong, but when I visited Rock's link it was like that. On the good side, when visiting FX, XE this morning, it did not happen....so maybe just maybe London knows something we all don't....

Darock is 100% correct. B of A started selling Dong on the 17th April. They then STOPPED selling online the day after due to the huge demand for that Currency. I do believe they still accepted a limited number of Phone Orders from what I heard.

Bank of America have also categorically stated that they ONLY trade currencies that are on the FOREX...That's why Iraq is NOT listed online in it's available Countries..

Take into note that articles state the Dong is NOT likely to revalue, yet I was looking on the Net for general info about revaluing the Dong and there were MANY articles dated around the end of last year stating that the local Currency pressures in Asia, and I quote now: "may force a revaluation" of the Dong....

Remember China: "We will float the Yuan in 6 months!", only to then do it 2 days later....

I would just like to apologise for my earlier inaccurate posts I posted. When I saw darock0116 thread I was like a big kid who just been given the keys to the candy store.

To clarify, I have been watching this website for months and listening to what has been speculated by this forum. At this juncture, my assessment of what is driving the impediment to the reval is diametrically opposed to what many of you think. Additionally, I am with Darock when he said it is all about the oil!! However, in my opinion, the world forgiving Iraq's billions in debt is the real wild card.

Currently, in my opinion, the Iraqi Government is waiting for all of their creditors to exonerate them from the debts owed and then they will assess what to do with the value of their currency. It should also be said that collectively, as a "people", negotiation and bartering is a stong suit for these individuals and we are seeing evidence of that now.

To take this one step further, these people are "horse traders" by nature and have been bargaining commodites for thousands of years and have obviously developed an acumen for structuring a "deal" that favors them at the end of the day. To encapsulate, we are dealing with a group of extremely sherwd, "street savvy" individuals who are constructing the framework for a multi billion dollar pay day for themselves. If they can wipe their "debt slate" clean, revalue their currency, turn on the oil pumps, they have just created a financial juggernaut from now into perpituity.

In closing, we all know many variables play into this equation,
Hcl,fil, etc, etc, but until the debt is removed these people will hedge.
I know from reading this website daily, Billions have been forgiven already, however the Iraqi government will milk this for every penny.
Finally, if you distill this down, we all know that Iraq will revalue their
currency as they will not allow their country to be purchased for pennies on the dollar. That being said, I believe this is an "all in" poker game where either we win big or fall victim to Iraq designing a new currency that would effectively kill our investments. However,
as the Bush Administation has been intimately involved since day one, and due to the fact that the United States government has to recompense themselves for footing the bill for this war, I don't see a new currency being implemented. I believe in time this investment will pay off!!

I haven't read through all 8 pages of this post so I don't know if the obvious has been pointed out yet. For whatever reason this system dropped 3 zeroes. Probably because it is not set up to read them due to the fact that most currencies don't require it.

It's showing the VND = .062 The VND = .000062
It's showing the IQD = 1 The IQD = .000786

Just a guess but it appears it dropped the 3 0's and possibly rounded up? I don't know.

Regardless, you can see that this currency exchange converter is not reading the 0's either. Either that or... Oh my gosh! The VND has RV'd at $6.25. Almost twice the v alue of the KWD!

I just called Bank of America at the number listed when the foreign currency exchange part of their website tells you to call in because it can't provide a rate for the Vietnam Dong. The person indicated that BoA no longer sells the Dong, and I acted somewhat surprised and asked if they knew why. The response indicated that the whole thing was quite the rush job, and that they began selling it Wednesday (4/11) and then Friday(4/13) they were told "no more", and that the reason may be because it's re-valuing. They also said they'd never experienced anything quite like it. Finally, the persons last statement was to indicate that the last exchange rate they had in their system was on the order of 13,000 something to 1. So there may indeed be some substance to the idea, although you would think that if the BoA foreign exchange folks are being told about the reason, or perhaps just aren't being told not to talk about why, that the RV information was perhaps already public. I have yet to find anything online to suggest an RV for the Dong, so all we can qualify this information as is "speculative, but encouraging"...

Try to take it for what it is, folks. We don't really know much other than BoA appears to be suggesting (by it's actions more than it's words) that an RV for the Dong MAY be imminent. Unless someone can come up with other ideas that would support them going to the trouble of setting up to sell the Dong and then just abandoning it entirely, I'm going to choose to believe that an RV appears to be imminent... at least for now, and until better information comes along.

This has been is currently in the news about the pressure to raise Viet Nam's rates from the IMF...if it does not now, from what I read it could be at anytime..although, from what I read, the Vietnamese are not really wanting to - as it would increase the costs of their exports - which represent that largest part of their GDP.

but,

as far as the currency quotes (at the posted site) they are know for being out of wack (speciaaly around the end of the trading week) before...I was told before when I asked that it was system maintenance or it burped...but, usually if you reverse the exchange from USD/Dinar to Dinar/USD you would get a correct rate...

It starlted me when I first read the post...OH MY!!! I got a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach...almost felt like a deer caught in the headlights of a car..."Oh, MY! What do I do now..." This tells me that when it really does happen...I really don't have a plan in place on how to procide...Anyone else feel that way or do you have a plan (finance advisors, investiments, how to avoid getting your account frozen by the Tresury or Drug Enforcement...etc...instead of get to the bank...spend like crazy...file chapter 11 in a year or two)?

Take a look at this. I just got off the phone with a supervisor at BOA. I spoke with her for about ten minutes. This what she told me. I asked her why they cancelled my orders, all you could say is that they ran out. I was one of the first oders placed on Tuesday what they told me!!!! The rep. told myself Tuesday that, they started selling on their website on Tuesday, and the Branches would start on Weds. Then the supervisor told me she had hundreds of calls, about people asking about the .0625 rate, the I asked here if this was true all she could do is laugh!!!! On thursday when I called they said they were out. I ask when BOA would be getting some more in, they couldnt give me an answer. This is very odd to me. Then today they told me that they were not going to sell the dong anymore, what I said, Yesterday you told me you ran out, and today you not selling. Then I ask here why keep it on your website? If you know your not going to sell it anymore then remove it so people quit calling. Why post that disclaimer about the rate and have the customer call, when they dont sell it anymore!!! Then I ask her what rate she had, she qouted me the last rate that I purchased at 13176 to 1. This is what I came up with. BOA prematurely started selling the dong. THEY DO NOT SELL CURRENCY THAT IS TRADED INTERNATIONAL!!!!! They were suppose to start selling when the dong goes on the forex IMO!!!

Being the weekend, it's hard to get verificaton from more than a few selected locations. He's selling on ebay under multiple names in addition to his regular business, and it looks like something it really isn't.

Remember when the rumors started a run on the dinar a few months ago? Banks ran low, but within a week or so stocks were back up and it was business as usual.

For the Dong to reval some major implications on it have to change the minimum wage is 700,000 Dong a month way too much out there.

DISCLAIMER 1: This was strange to me, so I went and converted every currency on there exchange, guess what I found all the exchange rates were accurate, except the Dong and the Dinar. Here are two examples below!!! Check for yourself, its all right there!!!!

OK almost done!!! I know this alot take in all at once, but something doesn't sound right!!! This is a major site, kind like the AP. They are located in the major financial Dist. in London!!!!! It would make since to RV both at the same time, so people don't double dip!!! Double dip is where you would take the profits from the dong, and purchase more dinar then hope for a RV. OK on that note let the posts began!!!

My question would be if the dong is selling on ebay at 100% mark up, who is making the profit? Buying it for 80 dollars, and selling it for 160 is a pretty nice margin. We have seen people on forums start rumors, pump, then dump, in the past. People working in tandum, 3, 4, 5 (maybe even a fab 5). If there is no rv I would be pretty unhappy about paying twice the value for a currency. Buyer beware is all I can say. We will know soon enough.

That site is not working to optimum specifications when the VND or IQD are entered. According to others it's been that way for either 18 or 24 months.

This dealer got his shipped over from Hong Kong. $77 is what it cost to get it to his door. I think BofA is out of Dong because they sold it all and haven't purchased more to replenish their inventory. They did tell me however that they weren't going to be carrying it at all anymore. Not sure what to make of that. Maybe they don't want to be providing it to investors. Possibly? I don't know.

The next question is why did they sell out as of yesterday? I honestly think the simplest answer is probably the right one. They ran out because people believe it might reverse split this weekend. They don't stock for currency investors just travelers so we all probably cleaned them out. :rolleyes:

Trust me, there's more to be had. The person who is getting the 8 billion just needs to clear it through customs. It's already here. And he is the guy who provides me with my supply of the Vietnamese currency, as well as, Dinar sometimes.

Hey, I hope I'm wrong but that's what I know. Personally, I think it's going to happen for the VND sooner than it will for the IQD. I noticed I felt a lot calmer after I got into it than when I wasn't stocking it. That tells me I'm pretty convinced.

So let's look at this. They had the dong on their books for 2 days before now saying they have run out. Pretty pathetic excuse! And why wouldn't they just say, 'we'll get some more in guys'???

Now we know they only exchange currencies that are fully convertible and I believe on the world markets, ie Forex.

Yesterday they stated on their site they could not give an exchange rate for the dong at that time. Today you have to call them to get a rate. Why? When they are no longer exchanging it.......

We know the IMF are pushing the dong to be revalued and next week there is a big economic opening liftoff meeting on 23/24th. And a bank holiday on 26th........

Definitely does not sound coincidental all of this IMO. Maybe we will get our answer within the next week. :D

How so? IF the site stays down and they do intend to put the dong onto the Forex as has been indicated then it will happen when the markets are closed, ie now. Here in the UK the markets reopen in around 10 hours. :huge: We'll see, not holding my breath, too old in the tooth in this investment now and know better, but guess one of these days the dong as will the dinar will hit home, and all indicators are to sooner than later. :D
