WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The U.S. military is joining forces with the State Department to prepare a new Iraq strategy that includes negotiating cease-fire and power-sharing agreements with some enemy combatants, U.S. officials said Wednesday.
A "joint campaign plan redesign team" is preparing the diplomatic and military strategy for Iraq, which is expected to be approved by the end of the month.
The team laying out the new course for how to proceed in the four-year-old war is led by Gen. David Petraeus and U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker, the officials told CNN

Can't hurt, these people can't be defeated, bring them into the fold. "Keep your friends close, your enemies closer".

When you let the enemy make the rules of engagement in war you have already lost.

Wars are won when you dictate the tempo and ruthlessness of battle.

We have been doing this for the last 4 years, well, to be fair, we have been half a$$ing it for the last 2 years. Consider that the group we are fighting has been fighting each other for the last 1000 + years and they refuse to loose. They pimp slapped the brits and we assisted them against the soviets, and for all words different, we are there now. If your enemy is willing to kill himself to kill you and will take his countrymens lives to take your will to fight, while the barral of a gun is a given, other stratagies need to be considered at this time. Now we are dealing with money that will calm EVERYbodys butt down a notch. Why do I feel like we have been here before? Making deals for the sake of stability....

Better question, where the hell is Osama? Has he been caught yet? Then WHY are we even talking about this? Find him, KEEP HIM ALIVE, then talk. You take his strength away as a figurehead, leader, martyr if he lives inprisoned for 20 years.
