A group of Iraqi businessmen has announced that they have launched the first private airline company in the country with a capital of $4 million, half of it would be offered in stocks for the local market where Iraqi investors can purchase.
The company will be relying on rental plans from Arab and International firms to maintain its first phase of activities in the country. The first stage, according to a company's source, would be operating to three destinations via Baghdad which are Jordan, Syria and the Emirates.
The new company "Rafdein Airlines" has been working on several coordination deals with Italian, Austrian and Emirati airlines.
The source said that the establishment of the new firm was a significant step for opening up new horizons of investment for Iraqis.
