I hope to visit one day when it's relatively safe to travel. The history alone is a huge draw, and I know that there are some beautiful places to see as well. Count me in! :)

I too, would like to visit (as a tourist) the land that has consumed most of my adult life. But I think the guy in that article saying that he is planning a trip in October is pushing it a little bit! While I like adventure as much as the next person....bullets and bombs flying around my head is not my idea of a good vacation. I did that while there in the first Gulf War.
I think I'll wait for the "next" tour to see the place! :happy64:

I was enthralled getting to tour Babylon (where I spent last Thanksgiving, my most memorable ever) and Abraham's tomb amongst other sites of biblical significance this past year. If you get the oppurtunity, DO NOT MISS IT !!! As for safety, be on your toes! But, then again, I have played craps in bad neighborhoods in the U.S. that were worse than lots of Iraq ! of course most scumbags in the USA don't carry RPG's !!!

My idea of a bad vacation is:
Tour Guide..."and on your right is the famous shrine of bla bla bla.....and if you look very quickly to your left, you will see an incoming grenade...but look FAST ladies and gentlemen"
Like I said...think I'll wait a while on the Iraqi tours :drunk:

and back to your right!! that folks is a mortar round, quite impressive! felt it before you saw it ..didn't you?
Good Idea Jeffrey! Myself, I don't believe I'll be returning until there is a Sandal's All-Inclusive resort in Mosul and MSR Tampa is fully paved and totally free of mines and IED's!!! The biblical sites are still a CAN'T MISS trip and I do believe the Sandal's will materialize. :happy26:
