Iraq: UIC Says PM Allawi Must Decide on His Participation in Gov't by Tomorrow

An official in the Unified Iraqi Coalition [UIC] List has said that the coalition gave outgoing Prime Minister Iyad Allawi until tomorrow to announce whether or not he wants to join the government. However, a source in the Iraqi List stressed that Allawi would not announce his decision tomorrow because Kurdish leaders will be in the Kurdistan Region celebrating the Nowruz.
An official in the Islamic Al-Da'wah Party, led by Ibrahim al-Ja'fari, said that the National Assembly's next session will convene on 24 March, during which its chairman, a Sunni, would be elected, noting that the odds are in favor of outgoing Iraqi President Shaykh Ghazi Ajil al-Yawir.
