Iraq's parliament agreed Saturday to cut its summer holiday in half, and some observers said a deal had been reached on a law to share the country's oil wealth.
Both legislative developments were small signs that the government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki was creeping toward meeting White House demands to show political progress and stem sectarian violence that continues to claim Iraqi and U.S. lives.

I think they should tell them that you either get these laws done or you sit here through August in the heat, and the BO (Body Odor) until they are finished. That would get some action from the stonewallers in the Parliment!

Hold on a mo'! So, let's see: they cut their holiday in half from July and August to August only, so they are only taking one month off.
Funny, I thought the annoyance of everyone was because they were taking off a WHOLE MONTH (August) and that they were going to reduce the break to two weeks. If you look back at earlier articles they were due to end the current parliamentary session originally at the end of July, somewhere in the last couple of months they snuck in the whole of July for recess too. I'm 100% sure of that fact....
Now, we find they were going to take two months off and are cutting that in half to ONE month (what they were originally going to take anyway).
They are sneaky buggers aren't they? They've actually managed to con everybody into taking a month off by saying they originally planned two. I wish some of that cunning was put into their lawmaking and then they'd actually have a productive Government....
