Iraq Parliament Fails to Choose Speaker (http://apnews.excite.com/article/20050329/D894RU300.html)

Even though this shouldn't be considered 'good news', I find this oddly comforting. Storming out of a session, fighting and accusations is much more democratic than what the Iraqis have had for the last 30+ years. :)

A friend of mine who's also a Dinar investor the other day was lamenting to me the apparent inability of the new parliment to choose a Gov. I smiled at him and said, "That's democracy" It's great news that they are discussing and cussing and not SHOOTING at each other. It will work itself out and when it does it will be something everyone had a part in and should make all feel that it's something to support. IMHO

Keep in mind also that there aren't any Iraqis that have any experience being a leader. There was only one leader in the old Iraq, and if you didn't do it his way then you could count on your family being tortured and killed.

Lack of leadership is also one of the biggest problems facing their army. You can teach a guy to shoot straight, but it takes experience to be able to command a unit of 100 guys and keep them all shooting straight.

They'll figure it out soon enough. And I think as they get tired of this infighting between ethnic groups, they'll realize that what they really need is someone who will do what's best for all Iraqis, and not just his own ethnicity.
